They are so much better than the old style with the wrap around frame. The field of vision is amazing.I don't know how I survived without them.
Would not have anything else anymore!

Very nice looking cuz they dont have the heavy frames that dont serve a purpose. Great range of sight! I wear them with the Smith helmet and its a perfect match! Never had problems with fogging even while walking up! Very easy to change the lenses and they are a good match -one for good, one for bad weather!

How interchangable are the current I/O frames with older I/O lenses? I have a 4 year old pair with plenty of miles and foam that has finally totally separated. Can I use the older lenses with a new frame?

It should be fine. I have a few pairs of the IOs from different seasons and I have lenses from different seasons and it all works fine together.
These set the standard

You're whole day on the mountain is dependent on seeing the mountain. Goggles are your eyeglass to the day. Light conditions, fit, ability to not fog up and of course style. These nail all of those and more. You can very easily change out the lens and buy extras. The strap is a nice length to wear with our without a helment. Get a loud color like blue and your friends will always be able to follow you down that chute or at the bottom of the lift line, whichever is your cup of tea. These goggles here are the standard size, not the IOX or I/OS.

What are the differences between all the different lenses?

There are different lenses based on the light conditions. The Smith site has a page dedicated to their lenses; there's a lens selector feature that will help you select the lenses based on your needs. (Goggles that come with a pair of lenses usually include one low-light or flat-light lens and one full-sun lens.)

Enjoyment and visibility for me can almost correlate directly. The ease of changing the lens, the versatile lens line up, peripheral vision, and anti fog tech add up to one impressive goggle.
I have put these through the wringer over the last two years and I am still loving my result. I am careful with the lenses, I do change them often based on conditions but heck that is why I bought them. I am firing for effect.

Love these goggles! The two lense combo is perfect. My favorite is the red sol. It really can be warn in multiple light conditions. And the best part they always look awesome! Some people have had issues with fogging but I think the key to avoiding this is always drying out the goggles and the lenses when you get home. After each day out I always pull the lense out and put the lense and goggle in front of the heater to dry. By doing that I never have issues with these. Kudos to Smith Optics on these...they get my full reccomendation!

The Smith I/O goggle is my favorite goggle because it is lightweight, fits well for anyone (on people with face of an average size), and the changable lens options are crucial these days. Imagine having a goggle with only 1 lens! After you use these goggles for a little while. You will understand. I believe that these are fully the most legit and functional goggles that I know of. I have used these goggles for 2 years now and they are great
They do their job.

Great visibility, easy lens changing, and no fogging problems to date. I have a slight issue with fit (they pinch around the nose for me..) but I dont expect smith to be able to account everyones fit in one pair of goggles.
Great buy.

My name is Josh Quigley and I have been wearing the smith IO for two years. I know a lot of the details about the goggle. The Smith IO has developed an anti-fog technology, and with the super easy interchangeable lens system, it is really a no-brainer. I have competed in a lot of contests throughout the past few winters and I have worn the IO the whole time! Smith offers a variety of lenses for every condition out there. My favorite is the blackout lens. I like this lens because it looks really cool, but besides looking cool, this lens is mirrored and keeps the sun out of my eyes so there is no distraction or glare. I am in love with the Smith IO.
great goggle

I have been wearing the Smith i/o for the last 4 years and I don't feel there is a better goggle out there. The lenses are incredibly easy to change, I use mainly the black out for the sunny days and the red sensor mirror for the low light storm days in Jackson. The fit is also great they fit perfectly with my smith maze helmet, no gap whatsoever. Would definitely recommend them to everyone from the die hard local to the 5 day a year tourist!
Love these goggles

I had heard that these were the best goggles out there and as a die hard Oakley wearer, I have to agree.
No fogging unless they are dropped in the snow (as can be expected)
Nice Goggles!

Great Visibility, Good Looks, Very Low Fogging, and Comfortable
Down Sides
1. Price.. Ouch
2. Lenses can be a pain in the butt to get into the nose piece, the rest of the contact points are a cinch but getting the lens clip into the rubber nose piece sometimes takes some serious pushing.
3. Foam deteriorates- The foam in mine is falling apart after 35 days this season. I always put them away dry and in the bag, can't explain that one.
I like the functions but not super impressed with quality.
Decent goggle, 2nd lens isn't great

Ordered the Ignitor Mirror lens and the extra lens is the blue sensor mirror. Neither of these seem to be mirrored - you can see my eyes through them. The Ignitor mirror lens worked really well for me in bright sun to partly cloudy days out west. It did not handle overcast flat light at all. So I switched out to the blue sensor mirror that came with it (designed for overcast days) and I saw zero difference from the Ignitor mirror lens, it was still hard to pick out snow/ice differences. Noticed there is also a gap around my nose that lets air in, which is great for keeping your goggles fog-free, but terrible when it's windy/snowing. The cut of the foam is also strange around the nose, so be sure to try it on and look down the front of your face. If you can see a gap (like we noticed only after buying), then likely you'll have the airflow issue I did. I was able to tighten and sit the goggles just right so the airflow was minimal. The profile is a bit flatter and wider (sticks out the side of your face), unlike the Giro Basis, which curves in significantly (almost too much) around my face.
Overall, a decent goggle, but for the cost, the 2nd lens that claims it's 70% VLT for flat light should function differently from the 35% VLT lens.

What can be said about these goggles that hasn't already been said? Super easy lens changes, great looks, and a wide selection on lenses. I like the sensor for flat light, ignitor for all around, and the blackout for bright days. Get a pair, you will not be disappointed.
what means that the extra lens is discontinued?...

what means that the extra lens is discontinued? the product bring only one?

It means the color of the goggles is discontinued. Has nothing to do with the extra lens, you still get that...

very comfortable, wide range of view. being able to change lenses in a matter of seconds is what makes it! I don't think ill ever get a different ski goggle.

The frames are the same as they always were, but kudos to Smith for improving the lenses with the new 5X anti fog coating. In the wetter warmer temps while skinning or bootpacking my older lenses used to fog up and become useless. The new ones totally address the problem and only a little fogging appears, but quickly dissipates. 5 stars for quality product development and improvement.
After further use of the product, they do fog up fairly permanently on the inner layer. This is quite frustrating. It only happens when you are in wet conditions for multiple days on end. They still dont hold a candle to Oakley's perfomance...I'm planning on buying Oakley again ASAP
great gogs

love these goggles, super easy to change lenses out on the go. I use the green sol x mirror lens and the blue sensor mirror lens and they seem to work for 99 % of conditions. Replacement lenses are reasonably priced which makes getting new goggles as simple as buying a new lens. I would recommend these goggles to anyone who hates messing with their goggles and wants something that works all the time, every time!
