Smith Warranty is a hoax

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

One month after buying the guides choice glasses while taking off the glasses the hinge from one side broke. I sent them in for repair paying the $25 to UPS them. Then I received a call from Smith saying "unfortunately" the hinge is not covered under the warranty and for just $100 I could get them fixed. I owned them for one month and they want to charge me $100 for a hinge on a $200 pair of glasses . Buy Costa's or any other brand.

Great glasses, too small

These are really fantastic fishing glasses. Unfortunately, I had to return them as they are simply too small to comfortably fit my head. I think that medium fit definitely leans towards the small to medium range, not the medium to large range. But other than the fit - these were the exact glasses that I had hoped to find. Optics are the best I've experienced in fishing glasses.

    Great optics, lousy frames.

I'm on my second pair of Smith sunglasses and have found the lenses to be excellent quality and the frames very comfortable. However, on both pairs that I have owned they developed cracks along the bottom edge of the frame. Smith optics insisted they where dropped and wont not warranty the glasses. It seems they would rather sell me another pair at half the MSRP than honoring the warranty. I would recommend staying away from these glasses and going with a brand with a better reputation such as Maui Jim or Costa Del Mar.

I'll never go back to "regular" glasses!

I love these glasses. The lenses have amazing clarity. Also, the auto tint feature makes transition from sunny areas to shade very convenient. No more putting glasses on my head and then putting them back on my face over and over again. I never realized how clutch that technology was, but will now never go back. The rubber on the nose piece is a nice touch as it prevents them from sliding on a sweaty face. They are pretty light considering how sturdy they are, but I could definitely feel them after 8+ hours straight.

I'll never go back to "regular" glasses!
