Gage the chance of bodily harm and then dominate ... you're protected.

All-season versatility, strength, and a low-profile look are what make the Smith Gage Ski Helmet ideal for the high-flying, hard-stomping, year-round rider.

  • Bombshell construction utilizes an injection-molded ABS shell hardened with (not glued with) the protective lining for better impact protection and a lower profile than other construction techniques
  • Airflow Climate control utilizes vents placed on the front, top, and back of the shell to draw cool air across your head to cool you down
  • Lifestyle Fit system is an elastic band at the back of the helmet that adjusts to fit your head
  • Removable goggle lock keeps your goggle strap in place
  • Bombshell earpads are removable for use in warmer temps (compatible with the Skullcandy Audio System—sold separately)

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Without earpads, the whole outer shell of the helmet slips around over the foam, which should not happen. This is seemingly unsafe, and at the very least, very annoying while skiing. After using it a few times I will be returning it due to this.

Good helmet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Nice light weight helmet. Keeps your head warm. Fits really well with IOX goggles.really comfortable.took some hard slams and it held up well.. Cool colors. It's nice that the ear flaps are removable for warm days. But they fall out way to easily.overall good light weight helmet for a good price

What size will fit better for 58-cm head?...

What size will fit better for 58-cm head? Is it possible to use the Medium helmet with a goggles under (Electric EG1-strap is too short for over-helmet wearing, I believe), or it will be better to take the Large for this?

Responded on

With your measurement the large is the better size for you. It will fit the strap of your goggles under the helmet with no issues. You will also have some room to play with in case you ever need to wear a layer under the helmet on really cold days.

My Helmet of Choice

I used to wear the Maze for it's insanely light weight. I recently got the Gage and it's weight is light just like the Maze but it's design for a big mountain rider like myself is much better. The brim can keep snow off your goggles on storm days which helps prevent fogging. The micro adjustable fit makes the helmet fit snug as a bug and not move around a millimeter, even with a Go Pro mounted on top. Such a great fitting, looking and functional helmet

Good All Around Helmet

This helmet is pretty good. The only thing that I could complain about are the ear flaps. They fall out really easily, but I fixed that with a piece of athletic tape and don't think about it any more. Other than that this is a great helmet. I have a large because I wanted to wear a beanie with my helmet. If I did it over again I would probably get a medium simply because it looks a little big on me.

I have since bought this years version of this helmet and they fixed the ear flap problem. It's much better now. The medium is also much better.

Good brain bucket

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

If you have a big head like me this helmet fits good. I wear around a 7 1/2 hat and L fits my head. The adjusting inside the helmet may take time to get used to(if you need to use it). I don't have to worry about adjusting with my big head! Good starter helmet without a huge investment.

Not bomber

Feels pretty cheap. I don't like how the ear flaps fall out. I get that you want to be able to take them out in the spring, but they should secure better when you want them in. I opted for the Holt instead which felt a little more solid.

Pretty good!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

I got this for my wife. Actually I got her two different helmets and she picked this one based on fit and look. The helmet looks sharp. It's light and has a zipper in the ear piece for generic audio integration. (I use the term generic in a very positive way as almost any 3rd party audio system will work.) The brim takes some getting used to, but that's just re-training the brain to lift the goggles. My only complaint is the harness that goes around the head on the inside. It has too many moving parts, on the other hand it's very adjustable, so it is a matter of preference. My wife loves it and that's good enough by me.
