    Great Ski socks

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These are some great ski socks and have been some of my favorites for a long time. These are great for cold days in tighter fitting boots because they have less cushion so your feet will not be in as much pain. If you have really tight fitting boots I would go for the ultra light version of this sock. I normally buy the medium and have a size 9.5 shoe and they fit great.

    Great Product

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I already have a few pairs of this sock's medium weight version and love them. As we move into the spring, I was looking for something a little lighter and these are perfect. I've had issues with socks from other brands wearing out too quickly or getting stiff after multiple uses but these hold up great.

Its Smartwool, need I say more?

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

you know its going to feel amazing, the fit is going to be spot on, the anti-microbial material is going to keep them fresh for years, and the price is not to be trifled with. If you haven't owned a pair of smartwool socks, I would highly suggest getting some.

    Life-Changing Socks

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

I was another one of those who scrounged through my sock drawer to find thick, wool socks - or just two pairs of white, athletic socks! - to go skiing in. I couldn't believe one could ski in thin socks like this; how could they possibly be warm and cushioned enough?!

I decided to trust my chat guy on BC, though - and now I swear by SmartWool socks!! For the first time in my skiing life, I didn't think about my feet being too cold even once! They were happy skiing three full days in a row!

They fit perfectly (9 1/2 shoe size, so Large), were soft and warm, and were plenty comfortable in my ski boots. (Oh yeah, and I hate talking about this, but after all the reviews I read, I had to do the sniff test...and after three days, they still smelled like new! It's true!)

This was three days in early March at Telluride (20s/30s on the mountain), so I don't know how they'd be in colder temps, but I wouldn't hesitate to try them.

Yes, $25 sounds like an awful lot for a pair of socks, but they are so worth whatever technology they put into them. I wouldn't wear anything else now!!

    Favorite Socks

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I have probably 3-4 pairs of this sock and I love them. They are low volume so they fit really well in smaller ski boots and won't cause pressure points like thicker socks might. They do great in cold temperatures and keep my feet warm and dry which is key. I would recommend this to anyone that has a tighter fitting ski boot that does not have much room for ski socks. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and I bought the Mediums and the fit great.

    30-day challenge!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I wore two pairs of these socks on a 30-day backcountry traverse. They were stinky and dirty... But held up! They are super thin, no holes, great elasticity and I had NO blisters - it was sometimes -30F to 70F and I was happy with them in all conditions... Even soaking wet due to river crossings. These socks are hands down my fav.

    Excellent sock, poor website description

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

This is an excellent sock as other reviewers have noted. What I needed was the Ultra Light version. The thickness of this sock varies - it has extra padding in the toe and heel. The Ultra Light has no extra padding and is of a consistent thickness. I wish Backcountry would describe these physical properties instead of how happy the product will make you.

    Great sock for tight boots

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I come from the ski racing world, and I like my boots snug and this is my go to sock for that tight fit. The socks fit naturally, and don't bunch up after a long day schussing like other socks. They're warm and the morino wool fights odor transfer (when your other shoes start smelling because you wear the same socks as in your ski know what I'm talking about). Size wise, I wear a 9, which is sometimes an in between size in socks, and the medium fits well.

    New ski socks!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I have a few pairs of these socks and never want to use a different pair! The feeling of stepping into new smartwool phd ski socks in unbeatable in the sense that it just grips your foot the right way and doesn't promote sweaty feet. Definitely my go to sock for the summer and winter

    My favorite spring socks!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I love these light ski socks, they are great for spring skiing! Normally I have issues with smartwool socks not fitting me right but these are spot on! I grabbed the SM and my foot is size 6.0. The merino wool helps makes these socks wick, breathe, and dry quick. Once you go merino, you will never look back! True smartwool quality, very durable and will last you quite a few seasons! I would add them to your cart! :)

    Spring Ski Socks Rock!

Just like the "Medium" weight, these socks are amazing!

I use these in the Spring and for generally warmer days. They wick great and have all of the same articulation abilities as their "heavier" siblings while still maintaining the plush, cushy feel that SmartWool products offer.

SmartWool ski socks make my feet happy!

      Socks you can't live without

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Once I discovered Smartwool socks for skiing I have never used another brand, these socks are no exception. I will say when I ordered these socks I thought they would be on the thinner side (I prefer Smartwool's super thin socks for my oh-so-tight fitting ski boots), and even though they are stated as light, they're still fairly thick. If you want to go as thin as possible then the ultra light would be the way to go. I wear a size 7 in female shoe size, and I get the medium size which fits perfectly.

      Super Sock

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I own a couple pair of both these and the Ultralight version. They're great -- warm, not bulky in the least, and have great elasticity to keep them in place. I also recommend sizing up if you're between sizes. I wear an 8.5-9 shoe, and the medium was too snug.

Best Ski/Snowboard, Hiking & Church Sock

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought 4 pairs of these on SAC last year, and have put them through the ringer. Many miles of hiking and hills of snowboarding later, I can say that they:

      - Keep me warm

      - Keep my feet dry

      - Don't stink

      - Breath well

      - Are comfortable

      - Are fantastic value for the money spent

I even use these for church socks sometimes. The dark color is perfect, and they cushion just right.

I have other bulky wool socks (merino) for hiking and boarding, and they don't even compare. I'm a total fan of these and will buy them again.
