Love the socks but !!!!!!!!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: xl

I bought several pair of the socks since Thanksgiving 2014. I find the socks very comfortable however after approximately 4 to 5 months they start wearing thin in the heel and eventually wear out. So far I have thrown 2 pair in the trash. If you call Backcountry about the lifetime warranty they refer you to Smartwool. You end up getting the runaround and I decided to toss the socks and I refuse to purchase any more.

Tougher than you'd think

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These socks are thin but the Phd design makes them feel more substantial than they are. I was concerned with how they'd hold up to washing but have had no issues so far. Wash them inside out to prevent too much wear. I'd recommend for summer wear only. I wear a size 9 1/2 so was on the cusp between large and medium. I went with the medium and have been pleased with the fit.

Super comfortable, Super thin!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Like a foot hug from an Angel!

These are good if you want a super high quality sock that isn't bulky like an athletic sock. It is as thin as a dress sock but about 10 times as comfortable.

Now a fan of Smartwool

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I was surprised by the comfort and overall feel of these socks. A lot of friends talked about these and said great things but I finally get why. I went ahead and got a few more pairs after my initial trial. They're great for work and running. I wear a 9.5 shoe and went with a large, great combination. I plan on using these for my hikes these summer to some of the Great Basin peaks on my agenda.

Love these

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I can't say enough about how great these socks are. This is my first pair and now I'm definitely a SmartWool fan for life. I didn't realize how comfortable a wool sock was going to be.

yeah socks

My favorite thing about this sock is the size compared to my other wool socks, which are all really thick. this is a nice alternative, and ahi547612 says they are capable of other things besides hiking, I HAVEN'T YET but the next time I go skiing i'm definitely taking these guys with me. They dry pretty fast for this kind of sock, not the warmest but not bad. mine run tight.

I have not worn these a lot as of yet but they are pretty comfortable. My left foot has a bad arch so even comfortable socks can sometimes feel bad on that foot. Fit and feel great on the right foot. Have kept my feet warm in the cold but not too hot.
