HEY! Got great results in the field!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Guys guest what? found another place where the awesome tech of these socks can provide great results, and that's is in the soccer field!, I used to end up with lots of blisters and since I started using these socks, that is all in the past.

Awesome sock

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I am very pleased with the performance of these socks. I wore them all day for multiple days with great results. They kept my feet dry and fresh all day in boots. very comfortable. I would recommend to anyone that has to do a lot of moving in warmer weather.

Add me to the satisfied customer list

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

After reading all the positive reviews I decided to go ahead and try these socks. I wore them on a 3 day backpacking trip and found them to have more than adequate cushioning. They were supremely comfortable and most important, kept my feet warm during a cold night. This was my first experience with Smartwool socks and I was VERY pleased.

really nice

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

like all smartwool socks, these fit snug like second skin. no seams felt. no sag. merino rocks for moisture management and anti-stink. only drag is that smartwool socks don't have the best wear characteristics, especially in the heels. however, their warranty dept is good for replacing them (as just happened w/ my PhD Ski Compressions).

Another great present for the sister!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these for my sister as a Christmas present and she has nothing but good things to say! She wears them for casual city-wear and they keep her feet nice and toasty in the DC winter! She is a size 8 and says the medium is perfect! Great present!

Amazing Socks

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I wasn't sure what I thought about wool socks as I had a few pairs in the past and they always made my feet sweat like crazy. These Outdoor Light Crew's absolutely do not do that. I don't know what the difference is but they are by far one of the most comfortable socks I've ever owned. I will definitely be getting a couple more pairs.

Great all around outdoor sock

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wear these socks for mountain biking, road biking, hiking, trail running and even they are great for casual wear. I'm in Utah so they especially are great to keep your feet warm on the bike in cold weather rides. They also dry quickly and don't stink like many synthetic socks. If you want them to last, always let them air dry after washing them in cold water. After a few years of using these socks, they are pretty much all I use now. I consider these socks a key component of my outdoor gear collection.

Merino, sooo soft

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These are a great everyday sock; I wear hiking boots to work often and these are my go to sock. My foot is comfy and stink kept to a minimum.

This sock is magical

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Strong enough to handle 9 days in the backcountry, soft enough for everyday wear.
On a late october hike I took a step into what I thought was stable footing and ended up in frigid water up to my knees, my boots and socks were soaked, and the temp was in the 50's. Yet after 15 minutes of hiking, my feet were warm.

Bottom Line: Smartwool made magic happen in my boots.

Smartwool kills it,

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I got these socks a while back and since have multiple pairs and love them, I prefer them over icebreaker socks, I have both. They are good quality and great fit! Good warmth too! Recommend them to anyone looking for a decent hiking sock!

Blisterless

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Needed a new sock to replace my running socks while I go hiking. These socks seem to be the solution. Comfortable, not to warm, and keeps my heels blisterless.

Love love love this sock!

The perfect weight for a late summer/fall hike. Very supportive. Almost no stink after 5 days use.

Magic Socks

Merino wool (i think) comes from wizard beard fibers. This stuff stays dry, can be worn like forever without getting funky, and keeps the feet blister free. I am pretty prone to blisters when hiking, but these socks (and even moreso the mediums) keep my feet completely free of blisters.

These are my favorite sock

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love the additional arch support that is apparently woven into the sock itself. Snug, comfortable and warm. These socks are my hiking "must haves" list. I've dropped 25 mile days with these with no blisters and dry, comfortable feet at the end of the day. spend the money for these, its worth it. the extra couple bucks will pay for itself when you avoid that blister in the backcountry.

One of my Favorites

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are high quality socks. The PhD style are designed to fit more securely with the idea that they wont slide around in your shoes. So these socks will fit tighter, but as long as you don't throw them in the dryer, Smartwool's sizing recommendations are spot on.

The merino wool blend on these socks is very breathable, wicks well and dries quickly. The also have great durability and don't pill up when washed. My feet run hot, and I love these for everything but the very hottest and coldest days.

I haven't tried the ultralight, but that may be the ticket for those with hot feet when playing outside in July and August...

SmartWool PhD Light Crew Socks Rock!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are my all-around "go to" socks. I wear 'em for cool weather trail running (too warm for Iowa summer runs), backcountry hikes (though not on backpackpacking trips) and to work (If you feel good - like when wearing SW PhD's - you look good!). I believe SmartWool redesigned the PhD sock line in late 2012 / early 2013. In the 7 months that I've had my Medium Gray pair, they seem more durable than past pairs - "bald" spots aren't evident yet after a good amount of wearing/washing. My size large weighed in at 2.40 oz. Highly recommended.

Awesome socks for biking/hiking

I use these primarily for mtn biking and love em. they go up far enough to protect my ankle area from the chain and what not but not too high. I wear a size 11.5 shoe usually and went with a pair in the L and in XL. They both fit, the XL just goes a little higher on the leg which can be nice depending on what you're doing. The black color is sweet
