It doesn't take an advanced degree to realize your next run will be so much more comfortable in the Smartwool Men's PhD 7in 2-in-1 Short. All you need to know is that it has a supportive, moisture-wicking liner that's blended with merino wool for temperature regulation and natural odor-resistance, as well as a stretchy, quick-drying outer short and knit-in ventilation for refreshing airflow on long runs. Plus, it's equipped with a zippered back pocket to secure your key and 360-degree reflectivity to help you stay visible in low light.

    Baggy outer shell fit style

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

My gold standard for 2 in1 shorts at this price range are the Nike Phenoms (5in, Size M), the fit and length of the Phenoms is perfect for running IMO (Im 5-7, 32in waist). First, the PhD 2 in 1 version (7in) looks and feels like quality material / construction, note the zipper pocket is on the right hand side instead of on the back.
I found the 7in version to long (M), they came close to hitting my knees. Also, the inner brief felt slightly loose and needed minor adjustments during the workout. However, the outer shell is to baggy regardless of the inner lining fit or length . FYI :I also tried the 5in brief PhD version, the bagginess of the outer shell persisted.
