NTS Midweight Boot Top Bottom - Women's

SmartWool gave the Women’s NTS Midweight Boot Top Long Underwear Bottom a cropped cut that ends just where your boots begin, so you can enjoy all the dry insulation of a merino wool base layer without having too many layers bunched up in your boots. Always-cold girls will dig this bottom’s thick warmth and superb wicking capacity. Perspiration won’t bead up on your skin when you sweat. It’ll just evaporate through, leaving you comfortably dry.

Bottom Line: It’s amazing how many more ski runs you want to make when you’re not cold and clammy.

Great Pants...but

By:

I really love these pants. I wore them in Colorado a few weeks ago when it was in the negative temps and was perfectly warm.

Pros: super warm, soft, love the boot cut, moisture wicking

Cons: I ordered a M but should have ordered a S, the waistband is too small and they're somewhat high wasted

Bottom-line - I will order another pair but will order them in a small

I wasn't sure about the boot cut, but it turns out they're sweet. My ski socks come up over the bottoms of these pants, and I don't have to worry about scrunching long pants up above my boots. They're also very warm and do a great job of keeping you dry. Soft, too!

NTS stands for next to skin. Not sure which version you're looking at that doesn't have NTS in the title, but basically all smartwool baselayers are considered NTS. BC.com may have accidentally left it off, though.

what did i do without them?

By:
October 2, 2009

i ordered these recently and held my breath because it was my first purchase of smartwool base layers (have many sox) and because i had to get xs when i might have ordered s if available. i had read reviews of smartwool tops that cautioned against them being too tight and small for size. i love my xs. since this is a next to skin layer it is perfect. i'm 5'0''/115lbs and i like xs for next to skin and s for second layer. smartwool is luscious. l look for reasons to wear it.

I wear only these under my snowboard pants in 15 degree weather and I'm warm.

I don't care for the waist band, it's thin and not flattering. On the first day they were riding up, but I pull my socks up over them and they stay in place.

Fabulous!

I love these pants; just the right length to keep me warm without causing a pinching in my ski boots. NO indention line in my skin at the end of the day like with long pants and no annoying pain at the bottom seam line halfway through the day reminding me that I have on LONG pants under my ski pants, and me knowing there is no relief for this without removing my LONG under layer and freezing for the rest of the ski day! So I am happy with these shorter pants, cozy and warm and can stay on the slope ALL day, without adjusting socks and boots and seamlines!!

Small hole after first use

By:
October 10, 2009

Wife just used this today for 2 hours for the first time and discovered a tear on the lower hamstring area. Hasn't even been washed yet. She's contacting SAC support as I type.
We've purchased 2 other base layer items she hasn't tried yet...hope they're a bit more durable.
Very disappointed.

SAC shipped a replacement unit and it's great. Stars changed from 2 to 5. Thanks to the great customer support.

perfect for skiing

By:

Fit is great - not too high (maybe a couple of inches below belly button) & the capri is perfect for wearing with ski boots. Used as a base layer under a pair of light weight ski pants and worked great. Not itchy at all as you would expect from Smartwool. Also bought a pair of the Icebreaker capri length long underwear and really prefer the fit of the Smartwool. Highly recommend.
