The SmartWool Women's Lightweight Zip-Top ain’t your grandma’s itchy wool undergarment—it’s a smooth, soft, lightweight baselayer that outperforms even the most techy synthetic top. SmartWool’s natural merino fibers quickly wick moisture away from your skin, so you’re not stewing in your own sweat on your morning skate ski. In addition to its inherent wicking properties and breathability, wool is also naturally anti-microbial, so you also don’t have to contend with that funky perma-smell that most synthetics inevitably acquire. This a highly attractive zip-top with flattering princess seams that also happens to feature flatlock seams for chafe-free performance.

Bottom Line: Get wool, the high-performance miracle fabric.

Great Baselayer

I have two of these tops, one with a zipper and one v neck. Took them out to Winter Park and though it was 7 degrees and snowed every day on the mountain and I should have been sweaty and snowy, I was warm and dry because of these shirts. They wicked sweat and kept me cozy AND didn't stink after four days. They're functional on the mountain, cute enough for apres ski, and comfy enough for sleeping or just lounging around the lodge. True to size, a great length, great colors, and fairly priced. I'll be taking them out out Utah for some spring skiing, too. I highly recommend these shirts, and Smartwool in general, to everyone.

Good baselayer

I wear this cross country skiing and while hiking. Merino wool = no smell. This part I love. Flatlock seams are fabulous. Is warm when I need it and wicks nicely. Zip helps with venting. I wear this by itself on sunny winter days and as a layer on colder days. Also works as a fairly warm layer for non-aerobic activities.

I bought the magenta (and I usually avoid Pink at all costs) but it has been a nice color addition. This top has a flattering fit as well.

Still a tad itchy, which is why it doesn't get 5 stars. Stoic seems to make a much softer merino wool shirt. All in all I am pleased with the versatility and performance of this top and recommend it.
