Curious about the redesign. I have several of these from previous years, just wondering how it compares as far as fit. The sleeves look a little strange in the pictures. Any help is much appreciated.

Smartwool did an entire re-design of Lt Wt for this fall. The sleeves you mentioned are a bit longer, offering more coverage on the outside of the hand. It has a similar feel as a garment with thumbholes but without the hole. The cut it also a bit longer in the body. Smartwool combined two fabrics on the new light weight, a ribbed material under the arms that allow more freedom of movement and their jersey knit for the rest. I think you will be very happy with the updates. When you first put it on you can't help but think how well thought out the design is.

After reading reviews for the medium weight version, it seemed like the lightweight might be a better choice for me in north Alabama. It turns out to have been a great decision.
I followed the chart for sizing, and am very happy with the way the crew fits. Plenty long enough for my 38" arms, and a lot of waist to stay tucked in.
In the upper 20s, which is a cold spell here, it served as a great underlayer while I hiked in the cold predawn to a photo shoot. That, a lightweight flannel shirt and a windbreaker, and my upper body stayed warm, even a little hot at times. Perfect!
After several washings, I notice no shrinkage. Plus, like all SmartWool, it feels great. I'm a believer!
