    Beastly sock wear

Can't imagine a better mountaineering sock. Built to last and keep your protected from the environment. Definitely has handled everything I've thrown at it plus while lounging they are the epitome of comfort. Well worth the price tag and will keep you adventuring probably until you lose them or a bear gets you. Backcountry got it to me super fast as always with no hassles. #goatworthy

      Great Sock

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really love these socks, they have kept my feet warm in mountaineering boots many times. They are very cushy and fit well. They are really thick and I definitely recommend them if you are going on any mountaineering trip!

      Great hiking socks

I have used these many times for work and hiking and I love them. They provide a great amount of cushion in all the necessary places which is awesome for the long days. I have used these on 10-20 mile hikes, as well as 18+ hour work days and they worked perfectly for me.

      The only sock for me.

      • Fit: True to size

Love these things. Super good padding, keeps the blisters to a minimum. Awesome at keeping the toes warm when walking through the snow and wicking away sweat on those hot days too. They last forever too!!!

like wearing a whole sheep on your feet

They sure are heavy. And warm. And cushy.
I use them when running outside (in minus 25 degrees) and when I get home with ice cold feet from a long day split boarding; instant warmth.

      Just as described.

I was looking for the warmest, thickest socks I could find, and these are it.
These socks are warm, thick and comfy. I use them as slippers in my house to keep my feet warm walking on cold tile, I use them snow shoeing, snowmobiling, skiing, sledding, and occasionally I sleep in them.
The only unsatisfactory issue one might find with this sock, is they do not stay on the calf as well as one might want. I've noticed that they do tend to slide down my leg. This only happens with I'm not wearing a boot of some kind. They stay up find in a boot or shoe.
Perfect sock, I'll probably buy way more than I need.

      Warmest socks

Great quality super warm. I have used these with and without liners and they actually feel warmer against your skin . Worn these on several expeditions wont trust anything else . Socks also are very padded and have nice additional support . Had these on when it was -65 on a night climb of MT Washington in December toes are still here .

      Comfy an warm

This past summer(2014) I took a job delivering I spend hours outside I was worried about the up coming winter I did extensive research on how to keep my feet warm since I would be outside for hours I have poor circulation in my feet I needed to keep my feet warm smart wool was recommended more than a few times so I checked it out in backcountry. I decided to order the mountaineering heavy-duty socks they r amazing not only was my feet warm they were also so comfortable they're like your most comfortable slippers. The only thing I can say is after wearing them for 10 hrs the tend to slide down I don't know if they need to be longer or a better elastic but thats my only complaint which I can live with I have 6 pairs maybe seven now absolutely love them best thing I've ever bought for my feet they're worth every dime definitely will be purchasing more for the upcoming winter. They wash up great. They still look brand new. Best pair of sucks I ever worn I highly recommend them thank you smartwool an Backcountry

So damn comfy for camp living, as arctic socks in arctic boots and generally just keeping your feet warm and toasty. They did a great job absorbing moisture and staying generally clean. Only went through two pair wearing them everyday during a 10 day winter camping span.

      Awesome socks!

Although I have yet to put them to the test, I can tell you that these socks are well made, super thick, and very cozy. I wear a women's size 8 and the medium is perfect. They feel great on and are sure to keep my toes nice and warm for winter camping/hiking in the Olympic Mountains!

      Really heavy socks

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I have always had good luck with SmartWool socks. As usual, these socks are great. However, they are VERY thick. You will need to have some extra space in your boots in order to wear these with boots comfortably. The would be GREAT for lounging around the house though.

      COZY WARM:-)

SmartWool makes the best socks hands down. These are great! Just spend the day at a freezing cold rink watching my son play in a hockey tournament, with a pair of light running sneakers, and these socks. Usually me feet get cold with sneakers, but not today. Have several pairs, they never fail. Very cozy to use outdoors in the cold, or to sit by a rip roaring fire at the end of a cold day.

      Roasty Toasty Toes!

Warm, so warm you'll never leave the mountain. These combined with a solid waterproof boot are unbelievable for winter hiking. I have used them multiple times in the Adirondack High Peaks during the dead of winter. My feet were literally as comfortable as could be walking a summit ridge in a temp/windchill of -40-45. There soft enough that you don't have to worry about your feet getting sore on long hauls, feels like a small cushion for your foot. Just make sure you have enough room in whatever boot you are planning on wearing them with, they are definitely a thick sock. I don't use a liner with them but take that into space consideration as well. The boots I wear with these socks are abut a half size big and they compress around this sock perfectly when tightly l
