Warm, soft, cozy, flattering!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 4"
    Weight: 123 lbs
    Size Purchased: Large

This is my 3rd Smartwool Mid 250 Zip Neck top in three years! My first two have been two of my year round favourite tops, it was time to buy another. I've used these tops on their own and as a second layer over light weight tops. The feel and weight of the material are awesome, so cozy, warm and versatile. The zip up neck is great for a variety of temperatures. These tops go through the delicate cycle of my washer most weeks and hang dry in a few hours. I've had them on extended wilderness trips and worn them 25/7 for several days and they still look great. Mine have held their shape despite all the use and abuse. I love the longer length and flattering slimming fit, . I like a bit more ease in my tops and have a broad back and shoulders so wear a large, but a medium would fit well too, just my personal preference. I wear these tops around the house, shopping, casual social events, hiking, working out, kayaking, cycling, camping... even take my solid coloured one along as an evening sweater at all but very dressy events. I always make sure there is one in my bag when I travel. I hope they never stop making these, in the mean time I'll keep stocking up just in case.

love love love

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

i am a 155lb 5'8" 34C, i typically wear a size 6 top, i got the medium in this for the longer sleeves and torso coverage. I love the weight of it, it is warm and soft and held its shape through multiple wearings and washings (hang to dry). The clearwater is a beautiful feminine color, i loved it so much i ordered the berry as well. I wear these for skiing/snowboarding, hiking and often just to work and around town.

I want more!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I absolutely love my Smartwool base layer!!!! My friend said Smartwool is the best, and she is right. It is warm enough for this cold winter in Tennessee. If I lived in an area where the winters were 20 degrees or cooler much of the winter I would get the 150 weight. I am 5'4," weight about 130, a little busty and I got the medium. It fits well and is not tight, though I wish it were a tad tighter on me, but I'm happy with the medium. It really regulates my temperature well. I wear it under my down jacket and stay toasty warm. When I well a shell over the jacket I am warm into the single digits. Being a true breathable base layer, I sometimes get a tad bit chilly just wearing this without another layer on top. It wicks moisture away beautifully and I stay very dry.

I love the berry heather color, though people who dislike bright, vivid colors might not care for it. An extra detail is that the turtleneck is lined with the same pattern as my smartwool beanie in the same pink color. The top is a tiny bit scratchy, but, even though I cannot wear most wool without an undershirt, I soon forget about it.

My only complaint is that the wool piles (sp?, get little balls) around the wrists in a few places. But it is not bad enough to give it 4 stars. Be careful! You might want to buy more:)

pretty but just the wrong fit for me

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

it was long in the arms and the half zip was just not working for me.

Have 3, Want More

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Since I've been wearing out my older 2 Smartwools like this, I figured I'd get another this year. Got the Clearwater and love it. Fit is great since I'm tall with long arms. These shirts are my winter go-to's.

Fabulous color and fit

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

I bought the horizon blue, and it is slightly darker than the pic but still a gorgeous turquoise blue. I'm 5'8" and 158lbs and the length of the torso on this is great - the hem hits me mid hip, so if I want to tuck it in, it won't be popping out. The general fit is a bit big - I got the large and it is a touch baggy, but I didn't want it skin tight. The sleeves are a bit long (covers almost to the knuckles), which I prefer because I don't like my wrists exposed in the winter, and I like to pull my hands in sometimes. BUMMER: NO THUMBHOLES! This is the only downside to this shirt :( Otherwise great color and great fit. I usually by icebreaker merino base layers in lg and they fit just right except for length (a bit short on me)- this is my first smartwool purchase and so far so good :) We'll see how it washes and holds up under constant wear this season...

So soft and cozy!

I have this shirt in 3 different color! This is my favorite piece from Smartwool. It is soft, and warm, and you can wear it alone, with a vest, or under a coat. It always keeps my core regulated and I never feel too hot. I think I need to buy one more while they still have my size in stock! Worth every penny!

soft, versatile

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I haven't bought Smartwool for years, mainly due to their weird patterns. But this year's design is a big surprise. Love the Imperial Purple stripes - classy enough to wear to work but versatile enough to wear out to the trails. Fabric is super soft. And since it doesn't smell, I wear it all the time and it has only visited the washer once after 2 months of wear. It does run a bit big - I had to size down. I also have the crewneck which actually runs true to size, so keep that in mind when you order.

Great, runs big.

Stretchier than last year's version I think. Runs big, so size down. Great sleeve length and torso length. Soft merino knit and beautiful arctic blue color....what's not to love?
