Crew Top ran a little small

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I purchased these for my Boy Scout to wear at Winter Camp - this crew top and bottoms. He loved the bottoms as his baselayer that kept him warm during the day with highs in the low 40s during the day and down to the low teens in the evenings. Big thumbs up! Unfortunately the Crew Top ran a little small so we had to return it but assume that it would have been great based on the performance of the bottoms.

VERY COMFORTABLE AND WARM WITH EXCELLENT FOR CASUAL USE AND SPORTS ACTIVITY! WOULD HAVE LIKED THE SLEEVES JUST A TAD LONGER AS COMPARED TO THE REST OF THE SHIRT THOUGH BUT QUITE SATISFIED WITH THIS PRODUCT.

Must have base layer

I have four young boys and each wore top and bottom as a base layer for blizzard conditions skiing. They were perfect. Did not itch, close fitting but with give, and warm. The wool gave me confidence that they were as warm as possible. Plus they had fun pretending they were ninjas when the layers came off at the end of the day

In terms of protection against cold, does it keep your body warmer compared to synthetic compression fit clothing (eg Under Armour Coldgear)? When choosing size,is better to wear skin tight or slightly loose? (not intending to do any vigorous activity while wearing it).

Responded on

I have found merino to be very comparable to synthetics when dry, but where merino really shines is when it gets wet. Merino can absorb up to 1/3 of its weight in water and it stays warm even when wet.
As far as compression goes, loose fitting clothing is typically better for being sedentary, because heat gets trapped in the folds.

I love this top. It is soft and warm. Washing is easy and stays in shape after the washing. Now my whole family has this top and bottom. Must have for winter sports.

Yes, it will keep you warm. Plus, since it's wool, it'll continue insulating even when wet.
