Throw the SmartWool Microweight 1/4-Zip Top on under your shell before you set out on another dawn patrol. Super-lightweight merino wool keeps you warm without the bulk while managing moisture and fending off odor, and the 1/4 zip lets you dump excess heat when you work up a sweat on the ascent.

Here's what others have to say...

Perfect base layer

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

Keeps you warm and dry and smell free! Great for fall and winter adventures depending on the weather. Definitely worth the investment.

Love smartwool

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I absolutely love this shirt. It is a great micro weight base layer. I wear a moisture wicking shirt under it most of the time and it keeps you warm in moderate temps. Looks good for wearing around town as well.

The best microweight base layer there is

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I'm 6' 0" and 155 lbs. I got the M and it fits great--slim enough to have a skin layer under. Great insulator for kicking around in 50-70 degree weather. Good in the 40s if you're active. I'd get a medium or heavyweight for winter activities, however.

Smartwool Merino is very soft and definitely repels odor. It's worth the price if you're serious about staying warm and dry. The antimicrobial qualities are what send this over the top.

SmartWool NTS Microweight Zipper failure

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had three of these and love everything about them, except for the zippers. I've had to replace two of the three shirts due to zipper failure (with no apparent way to mend the failure). I'm trying one more time with a replacement because I otherwise love the fit, weight, and performance. I use these shirts consistently, but I'm not (in my opinion) particularly rough on them.

Awesome

This is the best 2nd layer out there. For winter sports I always wear this over a base layer (which varies between a thin wool t-shirt or thicker long underwear).

The Zip Top is a perfect outer layer you can wear multiple days in a row under your shell or thicker coat. Doesn't smell funky, lasts a long time, simply a great top.

On-the-go perfect

The micro-weight top and bottoms are perfect for on-the-go,stop and go activity,or when you're in and out of a vehicle in moderately cool (25*F) or warmer weather. Keeps you warm and wicks moisture away from your body like a sponge into your outer layers or into the environment when worn as an outer layer.

Launders quickly and easily by hand and lay flat to dry or on delicate cold water cycle in the washer with air dry in the dryer.

Comfortable,no-itch wear.

HI! I'm 182cm, 84kg, What size is good to me?

You are about my size. It would depend on my intended use. If it was to be a close to skin layer, I would get a M, if I were planning to layer something underneath, I would get a L
