Description

Lightweight in name only.

The SmartWool Women's Lightweight Zip-Top is the smart choice whether you're headed out for a morning jog, a backcountry tour, or merely a visit to the coffee shop. This do-anything top's natural merino wool fibers move moisture while it is still in vapor form (before it has a chance to condense on your skin) so you stay drier and more comfortable throughout your entire workout. Cozy in winter and comfortable in warmer conditions, this top features an invisible zipper on the collar for increased ventilation when you up the pace. Sculpted side panels and flatlock-seam construction reduce chafing, while contoured cuffs and a drop tail provide extra coverage. To top it off, wool's natural anti-microbial properties help prevent odors from accumulating.

Great XC Ski base layer

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have used the SmartWool Lightweight 1/4 zip top about a dozen times for XC skiing. I really like the wicking properties and the fact that I can unzip when I get hot. The texture may not work for everyone as it is a bit rough but not itchy to me at all. The only thing that might be irritating to some is the seam that runs around and below the elbow. It does not annoy me with skiing but with running it might. I would have prefered the sleeve as a solid piece sans seam. I believe this product runs true to size. I am 5'9" and 169 pounds and I bought an XL and it fits great.

Buy another one? Absolutely!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I am a believer of merino wool being far superior than any synthetic fabric out there. I've been wearing my top running in cold weather. I can sweat and still feel warm and it doesn't stick to my skin like these high-tech synthetics tend to do. When I need to let off steam, I unzip. Need to warm up, zip up. The sleeves for me are long enough I can tuck my hands up inside comfortably. Personally do not like thumb holes (these do not have thumb holes) as most are constructed on the seamline. This twists the fabric and cuts into my thumb causing numbness.

Love it!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This is my new favorite merino wool top. It's so lightweight and comfortable. It looks great by itself and layers nicely. I also love the raglan sleeves and seeming details. I own this in multiple colors and only wish it came in more. Just in case there are any other new mom's out there looking for a cozy merino top, zipper offers adequate access for nursing on the go.

no go

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

I love smartwool's products, but this one is a dud for me. That's because of the seems over the elbows. Instantly uncomfortable! So I returned.
