Besides, the Combo’s wool covers your nose and every other piece of skin that isn’t protected by your goggles, so you can trek out into the blizzard and make the best turns ever.

Good for winter biking

I mostly like this thing. Super comfortable and warm as heck. I've been biking to work and get too warm with a fleece beanie over top. So today I tried with only the balaclava under my helmet and it was great. The ear holes do allow me to hear stuff, but can also be a pain when riding into the wind, it gets noisy. Anyone else experience that? I've been riding in about 10-degree windchill... so far so good.

oh yeah, its not so fun to wear with glasses, but all balaclavas are prob like that--i just pull it down when i slow down... also, no problem with icing yet

Is this suitable for running facing low windchill -10 to -20F

Is this suitable for running facing low windchill -10 to -20F windchill? I'm using a UA and gaitor combo right now and the gaitor ices over with my breath.

Any of the balaclavas that completely cover your mouth can get iced over. I use something similar to this and just put up with it.

My girlfriend has had good luck with a Seirus Combo Clava, It has neoprene with holes over the mouth that cut down on the icing.
They make all sorts of combinations of mouth covers, gaitors and full balaclavas.

The greatest benefit that the Smartwool balaclava has is that it BREATHES much better than any synthetic/neoprene. Significantly less icing and clogging with nose/mouth gunk! It may not be as thick as the others, but you stay drier and therefore warmer!
Enjoy the wool!

Love it

I love the fact that this balaclava is compact enough for me to stuff in my jacket pocket while I'm skiing. If I start to get really cold, I pull it out and put it on. It's really comfortable and is thin enough to fit under my helmet.
