Bought husband a smartwool sweater like this. washed cold hand wash hang dry and it SHRUNK! (bonus it's mine now) Does anyone know why?? How do you wash these things!?! He loved it is it worth buying a new one?

You can return it to bc.com no questions asked. However, the smartwool website does have the care for this item as, "dry clean as needed." What do the tags on the shirt say?

Best sweater I've ever owned. Very light weight, soft and warm. Layering needed for very cold conditions. Great!

any idea what the weight on this sweater is? I'm looking for a warm, thick, comfortable wool sweater, not just a baselayer.

It's slightly thicker than a base layer, but it's not a thick sweater. It is warm and very comfortable, though Smartwool does offer some warmer, thicker options.

This is perhaps the most comfortable sweater I have ever owned. I originally bought it just to layer up when going hiking but I where this sweater almost every time the mercury is lower than tee shirt weather.
