Instead of whining about how your earbuds never stay in, do something about it and pick up the Skullcandy Fix In-Ear Headphones with Mic3. They're designed to sit comfortably and securely inside your ear so they won't fall out, whether you're going for a run or throwing down 900s on your snowboard. Once snugly in your ear, the Fix delivers crystal clear sound and booming bass so you can get amped up to do what you need to do. Keep Getting Better

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had 3 pairs of the Fix Ear buds and I just keep going back. The first pair I had I broke by throwing them in the bottom of a bag and the edge of my macbook pro crushed the mic when I dropped my bag. I tried a few other earbuds after than and was unhappy with the fit, sound, or both. From there I decided to go back to the fix and they were great until I lost them. So I am coming back again to what I know works. This new pair sounds better than my previous 2 pairs. It is great sound for the price. I use them all the time for teleconferencing for work or listening to music. If there was a fault it would be that the mic picks up noise from rubbing on the collar of my shirt. Doesn't bother me but my coworkers notice.

It is a Question of Activity Level

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If I could give these a 2 and a half stars, I would. Here's why. How's the sound? Great. No, really. I do enjoy the supreme sound from Skullcandy as I like my music a little bass heavy but it has the treble come through just enough to balance out and not sound drowned (maybe a bad pun).

The quality of the materials is also great as the jack is gold instead of the traditional silver which has a longer life span and better sound. The cord is also high impact rubber which has sustained a few over-pulls due to phone falling out of pocket, etc. and sound is still good.

The problem comes with the Mic3. Don't get me wrong, if you use the Mic3 in a non-active enviornment it works super well and has good stiffnes when it comes to the button apparatus.

In an active situation however, the Mic3 falls well short. The second that too much sweat or water gets in to that Mic3 and it is done, as in non funtional. Get more in there and it starts shorting out the wires leading towards the buds and there goes your sound or the sound goes start and stop on you.

Bottom Line: If you are looking for a set of casual buds that won't fall out easy and have a Mic control, these are one of the better. Just keep them out of activity or get the non Mic3 version for that. ((NOTE: if you can find the foam tips, please use them as it helps the buds stick in your ears and are still comfy))

Not durable at all - low quality

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had at least 6 pairs of these...it's a love/hate relationship. Why do I keep buying them? Well they fit in my ears perfectly and do a great job of staying in there! Problem is they're made very poorly and it's not a matter of IF but a matter of when they'll break. Everything from mic problems to static in the earbuds. If it's not that, it's the cable where it plugs into the phone bends and damages the cable rendering them useless. Backcountry.com has been great about taking them back as an exchange for a new pair up until today. I'm getting grief from someone named Shannon C. who says they're beyond the 30 day used bla bla bla warranty. Look the warranty for these says "LIFETIME" - in the past BC.com has been fabulous about returns/exchanges for stuff that breaks. Not sure what's happening lately but they're not as willing to take stuff back anymore as of the last year or two. I can't even count how many thousands of dollars worth of stuff I've bought from BC.com and their other websites so it ticks me off that they make you go through the silly process of talking to a "warranty expert" via email. Takes several days to get a response and they're proven to be less than helpful. Please don't tell me that things are changing at BC.com. I used to love coming into the retail store in SLC (West Valley?) and seeing the staff at their desks behind the glass windows. The company got so big that they moved them to some remote location where presumably there are hundreds of gear experts crammed into cubicles. Makes me sad because it used to have more of a local business feel. Not so much anymore. I know this is supposed to be a review of the product itself but I felt my frustrations would at least serve a purpose here to make the company and customers aware of their recent changes regarding customer service, if nothing more.

(Yes, I realize the brass pair in the photo is the "Titan" earbud. Don't get me started on those either.

    Pretty great

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

They do what they are intended for which is stay in the ears. Ive looked for something like this for a while and finally found a good pair. a 4 because they hurt a little at first but that went away, good quality. 3 button piece is nice and easy to use.

    WOW!

Never knew what I was missing using the crappy ear buds I got with my Iphone. These things rock and sound great. They do seem to stay in better than normal but can still come out. I found that the smallest rubber pads work the best and were the most comfy even though I have large man sized ears..
