So I've been using the Chops Buds for a few weeks now. Typical SkullCandy sound so nothing new there. If you like their sound, you know what it's like. Average nothing to die for but ok. They are the type of headphone that will do the job and that's about it. Nothing fancy, the fit is ok. I wish they part that actually goes in the ear was a little smaller it kinda hurts my ears. We'll see if I change my mind as time goes on but for now 3 stars. Adequate to get the sound during a run.

I got the Skullcandy Chops for use at the gym and really bought these mainly because they don't have a mic on them. The fit is somewhat awkward and like most things Skullcandy they are average but do the job.
great for running & other sports

I bought my first pair of the Chops Buds 3 years ago and when they died I went on the hunt for new ones. The design has changed slightly, but they are still comfortable, and stay on/in my ear. I tried other brands, but nothing came close in regards to comfort and quality for the price. Have 2 pairs in reserve for the next couple of years...I tend to stick with brands I like, and styles I like - these will be the ones I use for the years to come!
Great alternative for regular buds

These are great for running, much better than the regular buds because they STAY ON. I love that they are adjustable because my ears are a little small and I have tried a few other styles and brands that hurt because they don't fit. The only reason I gave these 4 stars instead of 5 is because the plastic is still a little rough- I can tell that Skullcandy tried really hard to make them comfortable, and they are ALMOST there:)
Bottom Line: Sound and overall quality is great for this price.
Great buds for the price

Great buds for the price. Audio piece rotates from ear wrap for easy removal without completely removing bud from ear. Great for chair lift conversations or anything you may use them for. Sound is great and I haven't had any problems losing them from ear while skiing or biking.
Improved on an already good product

I have used several seasons' of Chops, and I'm pretty darn pleased with these. The ear piece is more squared this season which works far better with sunnies and eyeglasses than last season's. The sound is still good, without compromising your peripheral hearing (which is important when biking in traffic). They sit nicely over the top of the ear, and the buds fit very comfortably in the ear. I have small ears, and in the ear buds just don't work for me. I highly recommend these. I may get a second pair as back up.
Decent ear buds

They stay in place and produce decent sound. I ski with them but haven't ridden with them yet.

the speakers are don't sound as nice as in former models and the slightly new design is more bulky and not as comfortable as former models. they are still pretty good though.

Skull Candy Product Review : Chops Green/White
By Soren McCarty
Skull Candy Ear Phones for use with Smartphone/iPod/MP3 players
First Impression: I needed a new pair of ear buds and everyone told me I should get a pair of Skull Candy headphones. I wanted something small enough to fit under Snowboard and Bike Helmets.
I had a pair of Skullcandy Smokin Buds, ear buds , but one of the cords blew out only allowing sound in one ear, I liked the sound quality Skullcandy products offer . I chose the Skull Candy Chops for their audio quality and it wanted to see if I like wearing the speakers slightly outside the ear. I like ear buds but sometimes when I snowboard the ear buds can get pushed into my ear because of my helmet. I also sometimes like to use one ear to listen ,or use part of my ear to hear things around me while still listening to the music.
Fit: The outer loop of the speaker fits snuggly around the ear without digging or pinching the ear. It hangs down easily and comfortably while offering great sound quality. The rubber coating of the audio wire is durable and easy to untangle, the Chops are also available with a microphone for the iPhone and Droid. These can clip around the outer part of you sunglasses, they fit great around both my Oakley and Von Zipper glasses while bike riding of hiking.
Specs: 15mm Speaker Diameter , Cable Length: 1.2m , 3.5mm Gold Plated Plug , Frequency Response 18-20k Hz
Performance: I was amazed at the sound quality when I first used these speakers; the sound quality was noticeable compared to my previous ear buds. I also noticed that I needed to set my volume slightly higher on my iPod to hear my music , but I could pop up my speakers a little to hear peripheral sound. I think that option is perfect for city bike riding or distant tree runs, where you want to hear your friends if need. The Chops also work well with my Blackberry Curve when listing to Pandora Radio.
Colors: Various available :White and Green used for Testing
Overall Impression: I have been really happy with the sound quality; they have been durable, comfortable and have enhanced my music experience. I look forward to listing to new music with my Skull Candy Ear buds and Headphones. I look forward to testing other audio devices in the future.

I went through two pairs of these in less than five months and I can say I am through with the Skullcandy brand for good.
My first pair lasted for about 4 months. I did not use them roughly, they sat at my desk for my computer and I would occasionally wear them to work out. I really liked the fit and the sound quality was acceptable. Then the wires started shorting out near the plug and eventually they disconnected completely. They were toast.
So because I liked the fit, I shelled out money for another pair. These ones started having the same wire shorting problem, but it only took about a week. Unfortunately I didn't buy them from BC so I couldn't return them, so I'm stuck with 2 sets of busted headphones.
As a side note I also have the Skullcandy Smokin' Buds (got off SAC) and they are crapping out after about 6 months of use. The left speaker cracks and sounds terrible.
All my Skullcandy buds couldn't handle basic desktop use. That is pathetic. What a trash product. Spend your money elsewhere!
will they work with an ipad?

I had to buy some headphones to replace my pink Low Riders. At first the buds would irritate the ear after extended use, but they have either been broken in or my ears are used to them. The sound quality has always been great and the fit around the ear, which can be adjusted, is excellent. Other ear buds fall out of my ear but these have yet to disobedient. They are great for running, snowboarding, and just casual listening.

Bought to replace my forgetten Sony headphones of a similar design. Excellent sound quality, moveable buds off the ear support to hear without turning off music, softer ear hooks than the Sony ones, and a double-connect cord. All around great product.
Great for Working out

These headphones are great for working out. Ive tried other headphones that loop behind the ear, but I never wore them because they were uncomfortable. This is made out of rubber and is very comfortable. The sound quality is pretty good. Also skullcandy has great customer service and a awesome return policy.
I assume these work w/ an ipod touch?

This is not my first pair of Skull Candy earphones, but it might be my last. My previous pair of rubbery ear buds quit on me after about 4 month. These earphones are hard on the ear canal opening and really uncomfortable. Second, the speaker doesn't sit flush on your ear so tons of sound escapes and the music ends up sounding tinny like a cassette tape. Lame. I'd return them if I didn't already pay too much for shipping (a drawback from living in AK).
Are they adjustable??

Not adjustable but flexible so they are still comfy. If they dont fit your ears you can always return them.

I wore these everyday all day, on a 500+ mile bike ride along the california/oregon coast. They were awesome. You can see them hanging out of my shirt in this photo. We had just gotten into Oregon. Photo op!
Respectable Product

The only other earbud-style headphones I have to compare these to are the phones that come with the iPod and these are way more comfortable because you don't have to lodge them in your ear canal. I always hated that because my ear isn't the shape of those headphones and my ear would get sore after 30 mins of use. I haven't had any discomfort w/ these. The wrap around the ear is flexible enough that it shouldn't cause any pain--unless you have freakish ears maybe. The sound is fine, a little better than iPod ones, but nothing to get worked up over. I think that they look cheaper in person than the website photos make them out to be. I got them off WhiskeyMilitia for a discounted price, well worth it so far.
