Skullcandy knows that you aren’t perfect, so they made the Asym Earbud Headphones imperfect to match you…perfectly. Instead of using identical, one-design-fits-all buds, Skullcandy tailored these action-sport-ready ‘phones to fit over your right and left ears. There are other companies doing the same thing. But of those companies, none uses 13mm neodymium drivers, houses the cord in braided aluminum or gives you three sizes of gel tips to fit your ears like Skullcandy. And not one of them has the same background degree in damn awesome that Skullcandy does. Except us, of course, but we don’t make headphones.
I have tried many types of headphones and earbuds in the past, but these are the first that I have been able to fit under a helmet or a hat and feel comfortable. The sound is adequate, and the wiring seems durable.

The Asyms fill a niche and fill it well, but aren't perfect. I got them to replace my stolen Titans. First, the good news: the audio quality is equal. They're plenty loud and have better bass than the Titans. They do fit really well under hats and helmets. Fiddle with them a bit to find what angle is most comfortable and once you find it, you'll hardly feel them in you ear. The cord loop over the ear is similarly comfortable and low profile. Once they're in, the Asyms won't come out unless you take them out, no falling out on their own.
The bad: the cord is shorter and less sturdy than the Titan cord, but it is more flexible. There is no inline volume control which I really like, but the cord does lie nice and flat.
Bottom line: pretty close to Titans, but with much better bud design. Add a longer cord and inline volume control and they get 5 stars.
Great earbuds. Stay firmly inside my ear. I don't notice the cords around my ears anymore. I feel better when I wear these compared to regular earbuds that don't go around the ear. Sound is excellent. Use them mostly to listen from my iPod nano and Blackberry Pandora and have zero complaints about sound quality. Great bass and very little distortion.
Only downside is that the little skulls on the outside of the buds have fallen off. I suspect it is due to the fact I typically wear them under a hat and the repeated removing them from my ears under the hat has caused them to be torn off. Has no effect on the sound quality or feel of them, just don't look as steezy now. Highly recommended.
love how these fit. what's nice is that they don't stick out and fit perfectly under my beanie or helmet. decent sound too, surprised how well the base sounds with these.
These earbuds are primo. I ALWAYS have problems with ear buds falling out if I even so much as turn my head while wearing them but these bad boys stay put quite well. The sound quality isn't bad either, they withstood the test of dubstep and handled the crazy bass beautifully.
It took as little as 5 minutes for me to never want to take off my asyms!
The buds that come with the iphone/ipod hurt my ears really bad. Skullcandy in general are nice since you can customize the in-ear cushion, but most buds will hurt my ears, or they wont stay in for 5 minutes. Try biking, running, or doing any activity that requires you to move and buds will not stay in.
I once had a pair of headphones that clipped over the ear and that would a great idea, they stayed put, but again would hurt behind and inside the ear. Finally, the simplest design that allows you to utilize the cable as the over ear clip and the fit on the bud itself is incredible!
The volume controls is tough and will not move at the slightest touch. This is good for me since I run the cable under my shirt often.
The iphone model is stellar and a quality mic for sure. In fact I have the ipod touch and found an app that will allow me to make calls on it with the mic so double bonus for me!
Cable is transparent but braided underneath and looks super sturdy.
Get your last pair of headphones with these guys. They look a little different, but you wont look like a dinkus that cannot keep his ear buds in while charging up a mountain, or down it again.
I bought these to use while snowboarding. They ear buds are not bulky and fit cleanly underneath my hat with no discomfort. The sound is pretty good. Not great, the the snug fit helps keep out a lot of ambient noise. The way the wires fold back over your ear is a good idea because it helps keep the ear buds from falling out while being active. Good things!
I tried these out side by side with the 11mm FMJs, the 10mm Nixon wires and the 8mm Nixon wires.
Out of the four sets of buds, these had the least feedback from the cord moving around, and I liked the fit of these the best. They're designed to have the cord go over your ear. They look lame but fit nicely.
The cord doesn't have the same coating as the FMJs, it's more pliable and better in my opinion. These boast a 13mm driver, but the sound isn't as clear as the FMJs. The lows aren't anywhere as good as the FMJs, the mids are really muddy, and the highs are forgettable.
Out of the four the asym's are the only ones I even considered keeping. If you've got medium-low standards for headphones and don't mind the dorky fit, they might work for you. Otherwise, save up for something better.
I had a serious love hate relationships with earbuds in the past, love the music, hate how they fall out doing everything. These are the perfect buds for you if you dont want the buds falling out every 5 seconds. These things are perfect for skiing/riding. Stay in and are flush so you can wear a hat, goggles, and helmet seamlessly. Highly recommended!
Broken. No sound out of the left side after a light 4 mile run. Fit was decent, but pay attention to how the cords are wrapped up after they split to the headphones because if they aren't at least kinda straight, it'll be tough to tuck them behind the ears. In spite of all that, the sound quality coming out was actually pretty superb in comparison to the rest of the in-ear headphones.
I've only had these for about a month , and so I'm not yet ready to give them 5 stars.. but they're well on their way.
been looking for years for an over the ear cord with an in-ear plug style head phone that is comfortable and will stay put
so far, these appear to fit the bill
while skiing, I wear just one of these in my left ear under a helmet .. and secure the other one (not in use) to my suspenders with an aligator clip ... works well
no wind in my left ear, doesn't work itself free after a bump run , gets plenty loud .. and I can ride for hours without discomfort
turn up the volume with both of these in your ears and you can't hear anything but your music
