Sigg Rules

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I finally had to buy a new Sigg. I carried my last one with me everywhere for the last 6 years and finally lost it. Yeah it will probably be covered in dents within a year or two, but it will carry my water and keep it fresh. Love the dual cap, especially the wide main cap for cleaning it out!

Does this bottle have the textured outside...

Does this bottle have the textured outside like some of the newer models or is it slick? Wondering how easy it is to grip wit gloves on.

Hey Lynx,

This is just a smooth aluminum outside, not the textured material like you are talking about. If your gloves have any grip on the palms (like a lot of ski/snowboard gloves) you will still have a solid grip on this bottle.

I want to use a wide mouth metal bottle...

I want to use a wide mouth metal bottle like this for an emergency survival kit. I want to be able to use the bottle to boil water in from a fire source. I see this has a liner in it. Will the liner burn or melt if used in this fashion?

Hi - the answer is no. Sigg says that strong heat can damage the coating on their bottles. They actually specifically address this in their FAQ so it's a great question but unfortunately the bottle can't be used with a flame.

Good bottle, could be more rugged

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

While I have used these bottles (I have two separate ones) for occasions that occurred both on and off the trails, and while they have a decent capacity and will fit with moderate ease in most backpack side pockets, they do have a habit of denting inexplicably easier than I would expect. However, the BC review rings true - they do not hold taste of any liquid, be it Powerade, soda, or treated water; moreover, they do a good job of keeping a liquid warm or cold for a relatively acceptable amount of time.

Good water bottle, dents really easy.

Nice lightweight great for backpacking trips or casual use at the work place. It has a grippy outer coating so it doesn't slip out of your hands. My biggest complaint is that it dents really easy. Overall though I like it a lot.
