You love your Sigg water bottle but get annoyed when you can’t put ice cubes in it on a hot day. Enter Sigg’s new Wide Mouth Bottle, which has a large opening for your cool and refreshing cubed friends and a small top for spill-free drinking. This Swiss-made bottle features a water-based, BPA-free proprietary lining that keeps your water from coming in contact with the aluminum. This bottle will last you for years (the lining isn’t affected by dings).
Sigg bottles are top quality-made lined aluminum containers. You can't go wrong with any of them, but the convenience of the wide mouth for cleaning and adding ice while retaining the smaller diameter mouth for ease of drinking is genius.
I also highly recommend the Sigg pouch, keeps your iced beverage cold all day.
First of all, I like Sigg bottles. They are lightweight and durable, and don't have the BPA concerns that I have with some of my Nalgenes. The wide mouth bottle is a real improvement, because not only can you now put ice cubes in the bottle, but cleaning is much easier. And there is still the smaller opening so that when you drink you don't spill your beverage down the front of you shirt. Very nice.
There will be no damage done to the bottle or lining if hot beverages are placed in it. The damage will probably happen to your hand when you touch it. There is no insulation in the bottle so what ever temp. the liquid is thats the temp of the outside of the bottle.
There is nothing preventing you from putting hot beverages, its not bad for the lining or anything, but this is not an insulated container and its aluminum, so the outside will get quite hot to the touch if you put hot beverages in it. That also means that your beverage will not stay as hot for as long as it might in a thermos or other insulated container.

The top three things to look for in a water bottle and Sigg has it all: functional. This bottle is light and durable. There is no aftertaste to your beverage as some other bottles have. The top offers two mouth options: love the wide mouth for cleaning and adding ice; love the narrow mouth for drinking out of (no more spills down your shirt). The loop at the top of the cap helps with carrying ease. The ridges make it easy to grip.
Couple of wishes: I wish the colors were less 80s like and more bold. I have the red and the color is more like a fuchsia. I was hoping it would be more of a Swiss Army red especially considering the company is Swiss.
I wish the little top portion of the cap with the loop was somehow attached to the lower wide mouth cap portion. I have a tendency to be clumsy and can see myself dropping and losing this small top.
I exchanged my BPA lined bottles bought in Switzerland a decade ago & I had a ton of issues with the, "Eco-lined Traveller" bottles I got in return...
...THE PAINT WAS CHIPPING OFF THE LIP INTO MY STOMACH & THERE WAS PAINT CHIPS IN THE THREADS ALSO!!!
I really couldn't believe that Sigg doesn't paint those bottles about a half, quarter or eighth of an inch below the lip but they don't, IN 5 DAYS I HAD PAINT CHIPPING OFF THE LIP & PAINT SPECS FROM THE THREADS COMING OFF AS I WAS DRINKING (couldn't believe they spray that paint in the threads also, WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?)...
...a super expensive bottle & it chips paint into my system, wow, what a deal!
But the WIDE MOUTH is much better, the ridges on the sides make it much more durable & with 2 different screw tops you can fit a water filter into it (perfect for backpacking) & you can add ice also.
But then you still get the smaller traditional Sigg lid to drink out of or fill up from the faucet (yes, tap water is still good out here in Utah!).
I recommend the Wide Mouth & if Sigg fixes how they paint their bottles I'd say that any Sigg bottle is pretty much copacetic (but I love this one with the ridges because the other Sigg bottles dent quite easily).
I saw this wide mouth bottle and debated buying it because I already have 3 of the small mouth versions. WOW, am I glad I bought this! I wish all my bottles were wide mouth. I love that I can now put ice in my beverages and the wide opening makes it so much easier to clean. I also like the option of small mouth or wide mouth opening. I will definitely be upgrading all my bottles to wide mouth.
I'm a big fan of Sigg bottles, and love this Wide Mouth Bottle. The wider opening makes for easier cleaning, and will fit a Steripen unlike my old regular one liter Sigg bottle. It still has the smaller opening for easy drinking. It's also pretty lightweight. While the double screw caps definitely makes this bottle a bit bigger (taller) it's worth it for the versatility.
The wide mouth on these are awesome! Easy to fill, clean and put ice in. The bottle is pretty big, but I still like carrying it around. Having a nice Sigg bottle like this will make you want to drink more water.
Sigg screwed up. Their old lining material had BPA, a sort of artificial estrogen that is used in plastics. The new lining (the white lining you can see in the pictures above) doesn't have this, so no worries.
The wide mouth is the best innovation that could happen to Sigg bottles. Doesnt add much weight, and extra functionality. Finally, ice in my sigg bottle! The small cap is 100% compatible with all other small-cap tops that Sigg makes (e.g. the sports caps). The ridges make the bottle stronger and more dent resistant.
