- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
It's a water bottle. There are lots of water bottles out there and I don't tend to become overly titillated over them. I just want a bottle to hold and retain water for me, no bells and whistles. This one does a great job at being a water bottle.
Reason's you should buy it:
1. Not a leaker
3. Clips to a carabiner
4. Durable - Has been known to survive being dropped off pitch 3 of Half Dome
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I received this as a gift.
pros: lightweight, aluminum (so it taste good, doesn't absorb powder/flavors)
The mouth is small and nice to drink out of
cons: little too no insulation, the mouth is small which is nice for drinking but on a regular basis I like to put ice in my canteen for a hot Texas summer day.
I regifted mine to my roomate, if you're going to spend good money on a canteen try the Hydroflask. It's a little heavier but very insulated, because 90% of the things I do is basically weekend car camping. You choose a bottle aimed at what your activities include.
tough & durable
I take these backpacking all the time in the summer months. They can get some dents, but have yet to crack, leak and/or break after a couple years.
Lightweight But Sweats & Dents Easily
I had one of these water bottles in a smaller size and loved it. The bottle itself is very lightweight. The loop in the cap is good if you want to add a caribiner or some other method of retention.
Sometimes, even with Nalgene bottles, you can tell the water has been sitting in a jug all day. That is not the case with this bottle. The water you pour out tastes just like it did before you poured it in. Also, if you fill it with cold water, the water actually stays cold for quite a while.
There are two reasons I gave this bottle 4 stars. First, it tends to sweat a lot. This didn't bother me too much, but I would still consider it a negative. Second, although it is durable, it does dent easily. I have dropped mine while sitting on a bench and it dented. To me, this just adds character, but to others this may be a deal breaker.
Sigg Water Bottle
Used and abused but still working perfectly after years of use.
Great Water and Dry Goods Bottles
I have used these bottles for several years. They are good for water and dry goods. I have put cigars in them, used them to brew tea and coffee (with bags), and a variety of other uses. I have taken them throughout Europe and Canada, not to mention the wilds of America. They last for years and are well worth the price!!
