Traveler Water Bottle - 1.0 L

Most water bottles retain drink flavors on their plastic-y insides... or worse, they taste like plastic outright. And neither your insides nor your taste buds like that. But take the Sigg 1L Traveler Water Bottle wherever you go, and even if you leave it out in the sun, the bottle's leach-free lining will resist residue buildup. A single, durable piece of aluminum makes the bottle crack-resistant and its threaded lid seals easily to avoid any leakage.

Bottom Line: Travel everywhere and stay hydrated at the same time.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

Fragile

I really like the look of this bottle. However, as most of us know, looks are not everything. This bottle is very light, when empty you hardly know its there. As a result of the light construction, it will dent with the lightest bump. It fell over on my desk the other day and behold, a fat dent. Also the bottle is very sensitive to temp and altitude changes and will pressurize very fast, when opened water leaks or even squirts out the top... unfortunate when working by a computer or on your physics homework.

All in all very disappointing compared to a Klean Kanteen or other such stainless steel bottles.

I was wondering if this particular bottle was made by Sigg after

I was wondering if this particular bottle was made by Sigg after August 2008, when they assured the public that their bottles were now using BPA free liners, having retracted a false statement made just months earlier about the presence of the chemical.

Evidently, the bottles made after Aug 2008 have the new liner, and are safe(r) to use.

Please advise...

Sigg ended its voluntary replacement of old-liner bottles on October 31st, 2009.
You may still be able to send it back to them, on your own dime since it is NOT a "recall", but you will not be guaranteed the same bottle in the exchange.
HTH!

This bottle should have the new liner in it but if for some reason it doesn't Sigg will replace it for you with the new liner.

Nice Minimal look!

I choose this color for it's clean, minimal look. The bottle is used for water and I keep it at my desk at work. Not much else to say, but I like it!

FYI: Paint will chip off the top & end up in your stomach!!!

So all these fancy colors & designs are not what I want, I exchanged my old BPA lines Sigg bottles for this one (except 1.5 liter version) & after 5 days the paint was chipping off the lip & into my stomach! Awesome, what a deal!!!

There is even paint specs in the liner & those have been coming off (I WONDER WHERE THEY END UP?).

Why don't they paint up to an inch below the lip so you don't get paint in your stomach?

And why do they have paint specs in the thread, do they just spray paint these things?

Not happy & not using Sigg anymore!!!

ADDENDUM: I must add that Sigg has some serious people working their & they care deeply about the quality of their product & THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE TO MY COMPLAINT ABOUT THE PAINT.

So I'm going to try a full metal version with no shiny paint or fancy designs...

...so I'll be back to let y'all know how that went.

Just be aware of the paint issue, I would rather have the ugliest metal water bottle in the world (if it is easy to clean & won't leach toxins into my body) versus having a bottle that looks good!
