great reliable bottle, i usually get about 12 to 18 months out of a them, which is super good since it goes everywhere with me. it is the staple water bottle to have, and doesn't stink like nalgene.

My Kleen Kanteen is horribly dented from being dropped a few times. Is the Sigg more resistant to dents or about the same?

My Sigg Steelworks is holding up pretty good in the dent department. Been an everyday use item for about a year now. Seems to hold up better in the dent department as well. By this time in an Al bottle's life it would be full of character.

I have found that my Sigg dents less, but will still dent if dropped while full.

Pretty much the same. I've also found the siggs scratch easier.

The best part about this bottle is the lid. Way better than the plastic ones.

What is the lid made of? In the photo, the lid looks plastic.

Will this Steelworks water bottle keep fluids hot for a short duration --30 min. to 1 hr?

Klean Kanteen now has insulated bottles with a sip through lid as an option. Keeps coffee hot for a reasonable time (couple of hours) I love mine. For all day use the Thermos E5 can't be beat. Boiling hot coffee will still be too hot to drink several hours later.

STG - I'd recommend a double-walled bottle. I've tried coffee in my Sigg, stays "warm" for a very short duration. However without a double wall the bottle also gets becomes hot to handle.

It should keep liquids at the very least warm, but has no thermal insulation, so it isn't lasting long.

Good Bottle

I have drug this bottle from one coast to the other with only one major dent. Its def. a sturdy bottle but the lid is prone to cross threading. This is not a big deal, you just have to be careful with the lid.

Great Bottle!

By:
January 15, 2010

I highly recommend these! My wife had been using one for a long time and I decided to go ahead and get one. Well worth it.

The bottles are light-weight and durable. The lid closes firmly, so you don't have to worry about leaking. And since it's steel, you don't have to worry about the contaminants that accompany the plastic and aluminum bottles.

If you're looking for a great, long-lasting water bottle that you can trust, this is it.

Steelworks Sigg Bottle

By:

the metal ring on the cap is better than plastic one on the aluminum ones; it moves and does not bet scratched after repeated hanging. The bottle as of know has been dropped to many times to count has scratches all over it, but no dents unlike my old aluminum one.

Solid water bottle

I just got my Sigg Steelworks bottle and it is sick. I ordered the black for myself and the green for the lady. I definitely like the black better. The black is more of a matte color, and the green is shiny. I ordered the Sigg bottle because the threading for the cap looks like it was designed better than the kleen kanteen bottles. I am very pleased with the product, and the threading on the cap and bottle ensures zero leakage. I am giving it 4 stars because after I ordered it, I found out it is made in China instead of Switzerland.

SIGG branded this as "Steelworks" because they don't want this to be confused with the "SIGG" brand manufactured in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. SIGG has been forthright about this venture in Asia as their factory doesn't have the steel capability. SIGG also mentions that all Asian manufacturing is done with SIGG oversight. Take a look at the Steelworks link at the SIGG website.

Best Sigg Option.........

By: Backcountry.com Employee
February 22, 2010

This bottle is the best Sigg option & I recommend it...

...Sigg in my opinion HAS A HORRIBLE DESIGN FLAW THAT THEY WON'T ADDRESS.

They paint the bottle all the way up to the lip, it doesn't make any sense to me, all they need to do is stop the paint job about a 1/4" - 1/2" below the lip so you don't have to worry about paint chipping off etc.

These bottles are way tougher than the aluminum stuff Sigg makes, that's why I like it, but this paint job is an enigma to me!
