  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased this tent to camp with my son's Boyscout troop, now that he sleeps in his own tent with the other boys instead of in my tent, I wanted a lighter weight tent. I set it up in the living room the first time and was really impressed with how much room there is. It took me a few tries to get the hang of how the poles attach, but now no problem at all. It is plenty big enough for my daughter and me and all of our stuff, and when she doesn't go with us I have tons of room. I have recommended it to several of the other families at scouts and always give it a glowing review.

Very happy after the first time out

This tent is definitely car camping oriented but could be carried in a couple miles if need be. Quality all around, easy to set up and take down. Withstood constant drizzle and a little rain with no condensation and plenty of comfort. When I go for tents this big having two doors/vestibules is a must and subtle overhang of both ends is really nice. Reminds me of the nose of a 1980's BMW. I left the door on the bottom vestibule partially unzipped all night and the tent was dry. Gear loft could be pre-fitted instead of requiring knots at each corner. Looks like a few others have commented on that.

Two and gear is fine, three is asking for trouble.

Prior to this I was using my wife's Kelty from Girlscouts for this kind of car camping so, yeah, a low base but this tent still impressed a few people in our T-ATC maintenance crew.

    Well suited all around tent

This tent is great! It is perfect for myself and a companion if there is one along for the trip. The tent is very spacious and comfortable. It keeps you and your gear warm and dry. Not too sure why it is sent with only 10 stakes when 12 are needed to fully secure all points. Easily rectified with a couple extra stakes. Ventilation is lacking when vestibules are closed, but breaths nicely with a slight opening of the vestibule. Great value as the tent comes with foot print as well as the gear loft!!

Great design, weight is acceptable, and a pleasure to use. Same floor space as my last 3 man, but feels a full "man" bigger due to design. Takes more to set up than a simple 2-pole "x" design, but after doing it once it's quick and easy and the tent is sturdy.

Gear loft attaches with strings you have to tie, but it can be positioned more towards one end or the other. the plastic connectors for the cross top poles may be a weak point long term. Doors are "D" style so they stay off the ground when opened, and being at the ends (instead of the sides) allow any and all people in the tent access to both of them. No windows or vents in the fly, but those can end up a weak point anyway. And I still love that it's all clips and no sleeves for the poles!

The last 3 years were rain, snow, rain. This year I came prepared with a new tent & the weather was perfect :) go figure.

The pictured tent does not match the description or video. 2 main poles vs. 3 & 2 crossed top poles vs. x pole/hub set-up. Is the sale tent an earlier version?
