Sierra Designs makes the Y Tent Stakes for harsh use. You could pound these stakes into a gravel parking lot with a sledge hammer and they'd still look right when you finished. If you're sick of bending stakes and want a little extra reliability when you head into the backcountry, get these tough aluminum stakes.

Bottom Line: Stop bending and breaking stakes. Upgrade to the Sierra Designs Y Tent Stakes.

I'm looking for pegs that are lighter than the ones that came with my Emerald Mountain SL2. How many are there?

I substituted my OEM aluminum "X" pegs for much lighter weight & stronger titanium ones. You'll need a dozen. Here's more information:

The florescent orange heads make them much easier to find on the ground.

pretty blue and functional, too!

I lost a few stakes on my 2nd to last camping trip so I bought a pack of these to fill in where needed. I used 4 of them to stake down the guy lines for my tent last weekend and my tent did not budge (it's a TNF rock 22). In contrast, my friend's big agnes 4 person tent blew 1/4 to a 1/2 mile across the desert, while another friend's tent (that was anchored with guy lines around rocks) blew on it's side, and our BD megamid shelter also blew over (though the stakes did stay in the ground for that guy).... but you get the idea... it was REALLY WINDY! I'm sure tent design was a large factor, but I'm sure the stakes helped tremendously as well.

Using these stakes in Snow

A short video showing how to use these stakes in the snow. Instead of driving them in like nails, turn them sideways and tie them off like snow stakes. They are bomber!

If I understand your question correctly, you would get twenty El Cheapos from WalMart but just think how much higher quality your patios would be using these!

How Do You Like Your Stake?

By:

For me these aluminum stakes have more holding power than my titanium ones in softer ground & actually only weigh a few ounces more. The head design is better for gripping cordage rather than webbing. Once in the ground they're bomb proof!
