You're not going to let a little cold weather stop you from climbing on your day off. You just slide on the Sierra Designs Women's Stretch DriDown Hooded Jacket and head up the mountain. Wearing this jacket feels like you never got out of bed thanks to 800-fill DriDown insulation. This down insulation stays drier, keeps you warmer, and dries faster than conventional down insulation, leaving you well-protected against poor conditions on your route. Nylon wraps up this wonderful warmth for durability, and a bit of spandex gives you the stretch you need to climb freely without any restrictions. Sierra Designs added DWR and PU coatings for additional durability and water-resistant protection against wet weather.

The drawcord at the hem prevents the jacket from sliding over your harness, keeping you warm at chilly belay stances. Sierra Designs lined the hand-warmer pockets with brushed tricot for coziness your numb fingers appreciate. Store your phone and other valuables in the security pocket to leave room for your gloves, beanie, and other warm things in the stash pockets.

  • Nylon, spandex shell with PU and DWR coatings
  • 800-fill DriDown insulation
  • Drawcord hem
  • Two zippered hand-warmer pockets lined with brushed tricot
  • One interior security, two interior stash pockets

Cute and comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: xsmall

This is a really cute piece and I was happily surprised by the quality. It does have a nice stretch to it, the fabric is soft, and it is decently warm. I will wear it around Whistler village on a cool spring night, but it is not for really cold days/evenings. For me its more of a fun casual piece than a technical piece. It could be used as a layering piece on the hill I would imagine, and with the stretch, it would provide mobility, but I can't say from experience. I would not wear it in heavy rain or snow though.
The chest was a tiny bit tight, but nothing more than most other brands I try, and at least the stretch fabric makes it forgiving!

Odd Fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I have to agree with several other customers, the chest was too tight. I normally wear a medium or large. I ordered the large due to comments and did not want to return for an XL since the bottom would be too big. The quality looked pretty good.

I absolutely LOVE my green Stretch DriDown Hooded Jacket! It is very slimming and really looks great on me! Having enjoyed it in cold weather in the mid-20's, I'm a great fan of it. I'm excited to try it in the next few days as we are expecting rain. I have a light-weight rain jacket which will serve as my outer shell. I'm expecting to be very comfortable as the weather is expected to be in the upper twenties with light rain. What a great fashionable jacket so worthy of wearing out for dinner, etc! Absolutely satisfied with my purchase! It, also, will serve as my main inner layer of warmth over a thermal shirt with my skiing jacket as my outer shell. I'm so excited about NOT having to wear so many layers to stay warm on the slopes of Colorado!!!!!!

Great fit, great stretch, and ridiculously warm for such a thin jacket! However...I had to return this jacket twice. Not the most durable jacket and the zipper frayed and tore away from the jacket - just from normal wear and tear.

Love the fit and feel

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: Runs small

I ordered an XS in cadmium green as a Christmas gift for a friend. She loves the fit and shapely look when on. It is her favorite of many winter coats. The nylon shell material is very different but in a good way--it feels very soft and warm to the touch as opposed to the gore tex type fabric used on most down parkas. The size runs a bit small. I would buy this product again for sure.

Shoulders too small

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I am 5'8 and 123 lbs. I bought the medium. The torso was good, but it was too tight thru the shoulders. I returned for the large. Still too tight in the shoulders, but now too large in the torso. Ended up returning both.

So, if you have narrow shoulders this is a great jacket. The green is beautiful. I am sad it did not fit

Very unhappy.

I have several Sierra Designs products and felt confident purchasing this jacket. The zipper was not sewn well to the jacket and ripped away at the seam the first time I zippered it up.

Love'n the Stretch Down!

This is my new go-to down jacket! Sierra Designs has really improved their fit. This jacket is super versatile - I feel like I can wear it climbing or out for a night in town. I will have to test out the dridown in the next snow/rain.

Is this jacket replacing the Gnar (loved mine but lost it racing out for an early morning hot air balloon ride) does it compact into a little draw string back like the gnar? If this isn't the replacement what is?

I just received a "medium" in the mail,...

I just received a "medium" in the mail, and now I need to figure out whether to do a return or an exchange. I have a 34" chest, so according to the size chart, I would be an XS. However, even with the thinnest of base layers on, the medium is too tight in the shoulders. I have somewhat broad shoulders for a woman my size, but I had tried on a medium Gnar Lite in a store and that fit fine. Is the fit on this jacket smaller, or just highly variable among jackets? If I exchange for a large will it be TOO large? I still would like it to fit under my hard shell too.

If the Medium size is that constricting, I would at least give the Large size a try. The fact that you can barely wear an under-layer of any sort without experiencing some discomfort flabbergasts me. If anything, you can always return the jacket, and try for something else altogether. BC is fantastic when it comes to accommodating returns from customers.
