To put it bluntly the Sierra Designs Sorcery 55 Backpack is a designer's adolescent fantasy. Every bell and whistle is included, this pack is light and it has a harness system so comfortable you'll consider trading an appendage to have it on every pack you own. Furthermore, gear-specific attachment points allow you to carry skis, crampons, ice axes, your gps and more. The gearheads at Sierra Designs even built-in an emergency bivy pad. Who does that?!

  • Thermo-molded shoulder straps and waistbelt customize the fit so you can carry heavy loads farther and easier
  • Snow-shedding backpanel, ski carry points, a crampon pocket, and storm collar all make this pack four-season friendly
  • Load-lifter and stabilizer straps work together with hip belt stabilizers to evenly distribute the weight of your gear
  • A removable framesheet and single DAC aluminum stay add to the overall rigidity and strength of this bag without adding unnecessary weight
  • Hydration-compatible inner sleeve, water bottle pockets, and an integrated bottle opener allow for multiple hydration options
  • Glove-friendly buckles polish off this one-of-a-kind beauty

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This pack does it all and then some. I put it through the wringer ice climbing Pictured Rocks in the UP and am very happy with its performance. Handled BD Fuel and Grivel X-Blade tools like a champ and the crampon pocket is holding up fantastic after some tough abuse. Swallows gear with room left over thanks to the floating brain. Ski tie in points worked perfect for jamming in the end of my MSR Evo snowshoes to carry them without any twisting or flopping annoyingness on your back. The harness system is very comfortable both with and without a harness on underneath the hip straps. One gripe would be the single drawstring closure system which does not fully close the top of the bag. I would much prefer two drawstrings much like what Osprey has in their bag to more securely close off the bag so you don't have to cinch down the brain to feel like you are making it more secure. But that is one small issue that I can easily overlook because of all the fantastic features it does have....Overall I am very happy with the performance of the pack and look forward to taking it on many more adventures.

Decent Pack for the Price

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

Overall this is a great pack for the price, but I was not completely sold as the design simply did not work for the body type I was tying to fit. Great storage capacity and a nice set up. Although I ended up retuning this pack in the end it could be a great pack for someone else. Seemed very durable and had a comfortable waist welt.

Great Weekend Pack

Bought the Sorcery 55 and love the pack. I use mine for motorcycle camping and it is working out perfect. The Sorcery has just enough space for my bag, pad, clothing and other camping gear. I am 185, and about 5'10'', and the size large fits great. I am also planning on using it for overnight alpine camping. Bottomline: Great multi-use backpack.
