The Sierra Designs Sirius 2 Tent returns this season with the same lightweight, two-pole design plus a few updates. Sierra Designs stuck to the classic, easy-to-assemble rectangular design and increased the fly to full-coverage for your car camping and backpacking needs.

  • New DAC twist clips easily attach to poles and remove with a simple twist
  • Jake’s Foot holds each tent pole in place in a ball socket joint and releases pole with a simple twist—makes single-person tent assembly easier than ever
  • Upgraded full-coverage rain fly features a wing-style, 4sq ft vestibule on each side
  • Dual doors allow entry/exit from either side

Bottom Line: The same great three-season tent with a few upgrades.

Simple but outstanding tent!

Early note: I have the previous version of this tent, but it appears the differences are very minor.

I have used this tent for 3 separate 2-week long, solo backpacking trips. I've also used it on numerous overnights.

The tent has performed very well. I bought it for the its high features/value ratio, but now I would not trade it for even much higher priced tents. It has a very simple, freestanding design that is pitchable by one person in about 2-3 minutes with practice.

The tent has been watertight in extended downpours, even when neighbors have had significant trouble, but it also breathes very well when you need it to. I haven't used a footprint of any kind, either--the floor is durable.

I wouldn't call it ultralight, but it's certainly not cumbersome. I typically lash it to the side of a smallish, 3000 cubic inch pack, so I can still travel like an ultralighter. And for one person, it offers a lot of space. I've also camped in it with two people, and there is not an abundance of room, but it's comfortable. The split weight for two is very low.

All in all, I love the tent. When I began backpacking, I thought this tent would be a holdover until I wanted to invest in something with more features. After 2 years of use, I don't think any upgrade would be worth it.
