I returned these because I didn't like how the material felt at all. That being said, for a basic rain pant under $40 what can you expect.
Great Pants

I like the choices made for these pants. Fit is good and I like the elastic waist and ankles. The pocket arrangement is good.
I have been very happy with these on several long distance bicycle tours as well as for backpacking.
I do wish they also made another version made from something lighter. Something in the 2-3 ounce range would be great. Very light nylon with a DWR coating would suit me fine.

These have a permanent spot in my backpack for biking to and from work, and have never left me wet at the end of the ride. They probably won't stay waterproof all day, but they do the job for very little weight. They are a great price point rainpant

These are a great pair of 30 dollar rain pants. Again, they're 30 bucks which means they're cheap, fairly durable for the price, and yes, not 100 percent waterproof. I use them for backpacking when there is the potential of rain and they service the job adequately. They're not designed as ski pants or for absolute downpours - but in a pinch or when you're going to be hiking through thick and overgrown trails, they're great.

Is the elastic on the bottom stretchy enough to get over the top of a pair of ski boots?

Not well. I can barley get them to stay down over my hiking boots. You might be able to, but the elastic would be stretched all the way and it would be difficult to say the least. Sorry
Lightweight rain pants

These pants keep your legs dry, but I wish that they had a zipper on the bottom of them. Because one must take their boots of in order to get them on.
Terrible pants

1) no zips at the bottom of the legs making it impossible to get them on over shoes/boots
2) the zippers on the sides lead to an inner mesh pocket, but you can get get through this to the pockets of the pants you were wearing before the rain started...
3) no fly of any kind, women might not care, i certainly need a fly.
4) the pair i was shipped had a busted zip from day 1, as i needed them i just "dealt with it" but when it came time that i needed them i was extremely disappointed to find i had to sit in the car and take my boots of etc just to get into these stupid pants.
All in all i give them 0/5

What did you expect for the $?

I guess it depends on your usage. The lack of leg zips and a fly were a plus for me; less weight, less zippers to fail, nice slim cut at the ankle for when I use them on my bicycle.
I am typically wearing them over running shorts or bike shorts neither of which have a fly so I just pull them down in front when nature calls. I never found that to be even the slightest bit inconvenient.

The Sierra Designs Microlight Pant is a great pair of pants for many reasons. First, it is packable to the size of about a 16 oz beer can and weighs next to nothing. Second, they fit well and doesnt run small or large. It has draw strings on the waist that makes it a good fit and to prevent the pants from sliding down. It is also inexpensive, and you get your moneys worth. They are also a very comfortable pair of pants. When they are not packed in my backpack, I hang them by my door so when I need to take the garbage out and I am my boxers, I have something quick to throw on so I don't scare my neighbors.
However, I had never been stuck in a downpour with these pants, only light showers and misty/drizzly mornings. That is until several weeks ago when the skies opened up and let me have it. Granted it kept a lot of the water out, my legs underneath the pants did get wet, which I was surprised as I had thought it was completely waterproof. I am happy I know that now.
In the future, if I am going for a hike and see heavy rain in the forecast, I may opt for a more sturdy pair of rain pants, but if its just showers, Ill bring these without hesitation.

Okay, so I borrowed a pair from a friend. The dog decided to make a chew toy out of if so I need to replace these pants. I don't know which model type he purchased so need some help.
There is one pocket on the right leg. There are two numbers on the label - one is Rn 60918 and Ca 10497.
Can you tell me with this information which model I need to order?

Hey Renee- That's a bummer! The pant your dog ate was a Hurricane HP Pant. Check it out here: http://www.backcountry.com/store/SDS0403/Sierra-Designs-Hurricane-HP-Pant-Mens.html
