In a downpour this jacket probably will not suffice, you will want at least a 20K or a Gore-tex piece.

It's a shame this jacket is discontinued. If you can find one in your size grab it! Used this jacket in New Zealand in lots of rain and temps from 74 - 34 deg and it kept me dry and comfortable. So light it's amazing! I am a bit concerned about how durable the material is but after 3 weeks of daily use and 7 days on the trail it has held up very well.
