Description

Keep the rain off your parade.

Your friend promised perfect weather for your overnight backpacking trip, but, sure enough, thirty minutes into the hike, it starts to rain. Good thing you ignored her and brought along your Sierra Designs Women's Hurricane Pants. This lightweight rain pant has a durable nylon ripstop fabric with a DWR coating and a PU clear coat to keep you dry during a downpour, and it easily fits over your hiking shorts or pants so you don't have to strip down on the trail. An elastic drawcord waist keeps the pant snug, and zippered side openings let you change in and out without taking off your boots. When the sky clears, the Hurricane packs up into its own side cargo pocket to get you back on the trail.

  • Nylon ripstop fabric with DWR treatment
  • PU clear coat
  • Regular fit
  • Zippered side openings
  • Packs into own thigh pocket
  • Elasticized waistband
  • Articulated knees

Dry as a bone

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I just got back from a trip hiking in Iceland where we were met with horizontal freezing rain that whipped us for 9 straight hours at what felt like 70 mph. These pants kept my legs super dry and I could not be more thankful for that. I do wish they had a hook to clip into my boot laces, but otherwise these get an A+ from me.

If you have to wear dorky rain pants...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

So no one ever wants to wear these kind of pants (DORK ALERT) but if you do find yourself hiking in S. American during the rainy season like myself (Inca Trail) these pants will quickly become life savers. I don't really like the look of them but they do the trick when it comes to keeping you dry. I wore them for 3 days straight.
