I ordered the Sky coat in a large and I love it. I bought it for alpine touring and it is so light. Comes with a little bag you can keep it in. I would recommend!

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Just like the description says,it's made to be very waterproof, no water getting in through zippers or anything. Lots of pockets space and it packs into a small pouch when not in use...used in in the rain season in Costa Rica

Hi there, the material is not breathable itself, thus allowing it to be waterproof, luckily there are zipper vents airflow if you get too warm (I didn't need to use them) the jacket is thin and light...the pouch it comes in packs up smaller than a little bag of chips, I took it in my purse a couple of times, i could also be clipped to the outside of your backpack for more space if need be....enjoy your trip :)
Pretty good! Nice fit.

I like this jacket. I wear it, not only on runs, but just out and about as well. It's got great big pockets that keep things dry but don't look all bulky. I like the underarm zips, because this thing can get h.o.t. I wish it had better ventilation out the back. I like the hood, it's got a little thing to keep the water running down the sides of the hood instead of into your face. I like the color, it's a little more coral than red. It's snazzy. It's super light and folds up real tiny, so it's easy to travel with. It fits true to size. The zipper snags a bit up the front, but it's not a deal breaker. Glad to have made this purchase, and I look forward to wearing it more.

I haven't had a chance to try this in the rain yet, so this review is based on sizing and fit. I ordered a small and an x-small in the blush color to compare. I am 5'4", 105 lbs, so I often wear x-smalls, but it's hard for me to find good coats because I have long arms and the sleeves are almost always too short on me. Well, the small fits great in the arms but is a little loose on me. The x-small is a more flattering cut on me, but as always, the sleeves are too short and the fit is really tight in the shoulders as well. I was able to fit a light fleece under the x-small, but I am opting for the small because I don't like the short sleeves and tight shoulder feel.
The material is kind of waxy and a little noisy, but I guess one expects that with a rain shell. It is not lined. The hood isn't the best. There isn't much of a bill, so I'm expecting my face to get wet first time I use it. I tried the hood with my hair in a ponytail, and the hood didn't stay up very well. There is a chest pocket that my phone fits in well, but the jacket material is so light that it sagged to one side with even the weight of my phone in that pocket. The blush color is beautiful, probably my favorite thing about the coat so far! Oh, and it comes with a cool little stuff sack in the same color.
I got this to have for hiking for those unexpected rain showers. I guess it will do the job, but I do wish the hood covered my head better, especially since I usually wear my hair in a ponytail while hiking.

This jacket was perfect for my trip to Kodiak Island. It rains 24/7 there and I was thankful to have this jacket. It kept me dry and warm.

I ended up returning this jacket in favor of the North Face Venture jacket so I can't comment on it's waterproofness. I see this model now has the hood adjustment on the outside which I think is much easier to work with but it still doesn't have any adjustment on the back of the hood to keep it from falling over my eyes. I like the extra chest pocket which the Venture doesn't have. The Venture had the extra hood adjustment and seemed like it would be less clammy feeling on the inside.

if you're going to wear a thick coat underneath, definitely size up, however, I would suggest getting a winter jacket that you would want to wear stuff under.. that's usually more comfortable, especially if you're going to be doing a lot of outdoor activities

Anyone know how this jacket is cut? My wife quite tall & thin (6', 120lbs) and we often have trouble finding jackets with long enough sleeves, but a slender enough body to fit her. Is the arm length good, or can someone make another suggestion on a comparable jacket in the $100 price point range?

The hurricane jacket does have a slightly larger cut and longer length in the sleeves.

Does this jacket has a lining? Or can anyone recommend a waterproof/ breathable rain jacket with a mesh or taffeta lining? I don't like feeling the back of the outer layer on my skin. I have a NF Venture, but it isn't lined. I don't need the jacket to be especially smal, lightl or compressible.

Hi,
Some suggestions :
U can try the North Face 1) Varius Guide or 2) K Jacket (more an urban jacket). i personally own them, and they have HyVent 2L in faille weave, so it has a soft feel in the interior, as compared to the not too comfy feel in North Face's more commonly used waterproof material HyVent DT (Dry Touch - used in the Venture), which is not lined. The DT is always lighter, though.
As a guide when u shop North Face rainwear, avoid the HyVent DT range since u don't like that feel.

I love the hood on this jacket. It is extra large so you can wear a hoodie under it and still the hoodie hood stays dry.

Does the hood hide your entired head of hair. I have a lot of thick, wavy hair and it hates rain. I need to completelyi hide my hair. The last jacket I bought did not and I had to return it. Does it run true to size as well?

Bought this for my trip to Maui. Hiking through rain forests was great and this was the best purchase I made prior to the trip. I wore it all the time. From Whale Watching to the hiking. It was perfect. It kept my phone, camera, anything in my pockets perfectly dry. No matter how much or how little it was raining.
