Lightweight and warm versatility.
One of Sierra Designs' most versatile jackets, the Men's Elite DriDown Hooded Jacket delivers lightweight, toasty warmth to handle frozen city streets and whipping, mountain winds alike. The burly nylon and polyester ripstop construction keeps up with your most demanding adventures, and the DWR-coating helps deflect precipitation when the weather's having trouble making up its mind.
Outperforming other jackets that utilize untreated down, the Elite is equipped with 850-fill duck power DriDown—staying dry ten times longer, drying 30-percent faster, and retaining two times more loft than untreated down. The PU-coated shell obstinately defends against wind and heat-loss, breathes exceptionally well, and prevents down from leaking through the seams.
Whether the hood's up or down, its overstuffed design provides an excellent seal against frozen winds. Gasket-sealed thumbholes at the cuffs come in handy for extra protection against wicked weather, and insulated front pockets offer cozy relief for your hands when you forget to bring gloves. And once you've finally made it safely indoors, this jacket packs into the reversible front pocket for compact, easy storage.

i started wearing this Jacket about 1 month ago. I love the design, the texture, the color and it feels so comfortable. its also warm & light enough that i only need put on a base layer under it when walking in some 0-celsius-degree outdoors. Yes, it keeps wet out in light snow or rain and dries up fast as claimed. But just at that very moment when i was about to fall in love with it, i noticed something pesky --- DOWN LEAKING! This turned a sweet love story into a nightmare since its been leaking, not every other days, but every day!
as time goes by, i found myself became kind of nervous fearing this fancy jacket would soon reach its life span as the "leaking activity" goes at such a steady and speedy pace.
So, any good advice?

No way a large will fit a 44" chest. I'm 43 and the arms bind when I swing them out in front of me. Otherwise looks like an o.k. jacket.
The Best Lightweight Insulation Layer!
This Sierra Designs DriDown Sweater Jacket is a favorite of mine! With Sierra Designs using DriDown for this sweater jacket, even if this sweater jacket gets somewhat wet, it still keep you warm unlike regular down. That is huge! As always Sierra Designs has kept it real with their craftsmanship of this sweater jacket, materials used and functionality. It is a fitted fit which I like as I use this under my hard shells. This Sierra Designs DriDown Sweater Jacket has thumb holes so what I have done is use them and throw on gloves and you have complete protection from the elements! This Sierra Designs DriDown Sweater Jacket barely weighs anything, packs up small and comes in a few different colors. Granted, with any down garment you have to expect it to leak out down, so that is the only pain in the ass thing I have had with this Sierra Designs DriDown Sweater Jacket. The price is below what the Outdoor Research Filament jacket I recent reviewed is, so I say go get you this Sierra Designs DriDown Sweater Jacket if you want a great down insulation jacket for backpacking or even around town. This is not a super puffy jacket, so keep in mind this is a mid sized on the warmth it can give you. But it was dramatically warmer then the Outdoor Research Filiment. Berz Rating: 93/100
