Best Booties

  • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit:True to size

I purchased the Sierra Designs Down Moccasin Slipper for my boyfriend as a gift in a size large (his street shoe is a 10.5) and they fit him perfectly. Not that he particularly cares, but I wish that they came in colors other than black. Aesthetics aside, they are very comfortable and very warm. He uses them primarily as an around-the-house slipper but the durable sole makes them an excellent camp slipper as well. I especially like the loops on the backs are great for attaching to a carabiner and hooking on a backpack. Overall, these are really wonderful booties and worth the cost.

Mad Cushy

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs large

These babies are like mini sleeping bags for your feet. They have a durable sole that is relatively water resistant. I have taken these on nearly every backcountry yurt or hut trip I have been on and they haven't blown out yet. They are even low profile enough to slip inside an empty ski boot shell for quick night trips to the bathroom. I have also used them as casual house wear on those lazy grey-bird Sunday mornings. I have a narrow foot and they ran a bit big, but since they aren't performance footwear I really didn't mind.

Sizing is off fo sho

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:Runs small

So I do not own these anymore, but I did own these and have about 4 other pairs of sierra designs down footwear and it pretty common for most of sierra designs down footwear to run small. I typically wear a 10.5-11 and in these and all SD down footwear I am wearing the XLs. I must say a note on these, I don't the collar of the shoe and I dislike the tread. On the other slippers I own they all have a heartier sole for walking around with a bit more traction. These are lacking any and all traction. This also limits use because if you are wearing these around camp all the time the sole is going to wear down quick. Granted, if I am using down footwear outside I am going to wear my calf high booties, they just do a better job having higher clearance. The collar on these annoyed me to no end, because they are about chukka height, which at that height I really just prefer my slip ons with the heartier sole and tread. What I do like about these is they have the water resistant tops as well as the toe kick that they have kept. Kudos for SD for keeping those because they are awesome features. Aside from that if your using these around the house I think they will work just fine.

Very warm and Comfortable Slippers

These are like putting on a "down Jacket" on your feet for slippers. Only one thing to be concerned about? is that they are a bit difficult to slip on.make sure your foot is in all the way to the front then pull the back over your heel with the finger ring on the back of the slipper. Other than that, they are great and I would get another pair when these wear out.

    Good for around the house

I love these slippers for wearing around the house. They're not the fluffiest but they've kept me warm when going out on the deck for a smoke in 20F degrees and up.

I have a different pair of booties for wearing around base camp when I'm on the trail.

They do run small, so make sure to size up but overall these are great slippers!

      Agree: sizing is way off

        My shoe: men's size 9.
The large version of these is too small! Maybe an XL would work but I ordered the Sierra Designs pull on down Bootie Slipper instead (very nice!)

Neck of the moccassin is hard to get into. Maybe the whole design needs to be scrapped. Or maybe you just need to order 2 sizes up from what is recommended.

        Not Great

I ordered 2 pairs of these for my husband and my father for Christmas in sz. Large, they were very small for both of them who have sz. 11 feet. My husband opted to keep them because they were warm but the second time he put them on he used the pull strap on the back and one of them broke completely off, he wasn't even pulling hard! Overall he likes them when he finally gets them on because they DO keep his feet toasty and warm but he will definitely be buying another brand in the future.

          so so

sizing is bizarre...sizing chart indicated a Large but had to send back for XL. They're definitely warm. But they're getting a little funky already...had them for maybe a month. I guess I can wear socks...but that kind of defeats the purpose of slippers in my opinion.
