The Sierra Designs Baku 1-Person 3-Season Tent combines single- and double-wall designs to make it light, very breathable, and fast to set up. It's ideal for solo backpacking where weight is an issue, but you still need a solid shelter. One whole wall is made of mesh which increases breathability while reducing condensation compared to other single wall tents. A full-size vestibule covers this wall and leaves you extra room to shelter your gear from the elements. Two doors provide easy access to either side of the Baku, and it sets up in seconds thanks to Swift Clip pole attachments. With the Baku, you cut your pack weight and remain protected when the weather turns nasty.

Bottom Line: The Baku is light, fast, and dry. Everything you need in a solo tent.

Perfect solo tent

I looked long and hard at solo tents and finally chose the Baku. This tent has the best of both worlds combining single and double wall features. I was tired of fumbling with a separate fly, this tent is super easy to pitch and keeps the inside dry in the rain. The vestibule gives you a place to stash your gear and get in/out via the opposite door without crawling all over your stuff. The side with the vestibule is entirely mesh which takes away from that cooped up feeling if your stuck inside due to weather. The ventilation is great and somewhat misrepresented in the listing here. In addition to the one mesh wall there is also a vent at either end of the tent and the top portion of the second door. I'm 5'11" and have a few inches of wiggle room at my head/toe. I can sit up in the tent as well. The Baku also packs down small and is very light. The only thing that is tricky would be getting your pad in the side doors. I use a Big Agnes inflatable and have to wriggle it in there. All in all, I would recommend this tent to anyone. The only issue might be if you are extremely tall but then you might have problems with most solo tents.
