If mountain biking were easy, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun, but it would also be a lot gentler on your body and your gear. Beating ourselves and our stuff up is the price we pay for fun, though, so we can seriously appreciated a durable and exquisitely comfortable shoe like the Sidi Sun. With a carbon composite sole that balances power and flex and last designed exclusively for a woman's foot, the Sun is made to be ridden long and hard, whether you're cruising singletrack or getting after it in cyclocross races.
Fit and pedal power tend to be treated separately, but they're really two sides of the same coin. The Sun features a Lucido synthetic upper, which conforms to your foot without stretching and fights off snags, scrapes, and scratches, so the fit will stay perfect. Since your foot won't slop around—three hook-and-loop straps helps see to that—you'll be able to put more power into the pedals, waste less energy, and ride faster. Sidi outfitted the upper with tons of mesh ventilation panels to fight off sweat and heat, and included rubber sole lugs to save your cleats and provide traction on slick ground. The Sun's an all-weather shoe, though, and even has a spot where you can attach winter toe spikes, if you're looking for extra grip on snowy or icy trails.
