Description

The best gets better.

The predecessor to the Sidi Drako SRS Men's Shoe - The Sidi Dragon Shoe - was already one of the most comfortable and successful mountain biking shoes of all time, climbing on top of countless podiums around the world and hanging onto the feet of still more amateurs and semi-pros alike. So why would Sidi tinker so heavily with such a successful formula? Because they could make it even better, and they certainly have with the Drako.

The first big difference comes down to the number 100. That's the number of grams that the Drako loses in comparison to the Dragon. Thank a completely redesigned carbon fiber sole. The sole plate is built into a nylon frame that allows a small but critical amount of flex for comfort and to allow blood flow to prevent foot numbness, without giving up the rigidity necessary for efficient pedaling. Bolted onto that sole are the shoe's treads, which are replaceable, should they wear out - an appreciated feature by Sidi loyalists, because the shoes tend to last for years upon years, thanks to the superb hand assembly of the Lorica microfiber and ballistic mesh components.

Another major upgrade over the Dragon is the Drako's all-new Tecno 3 closure system. Instead of relying on three different closure types, as on the Dragon, the Tecno 3 system is a simple cable system that closes evenly, applying uniform pressure across the foot to prevent pressure points and discomfort. Two individual latches on each shoe provide incredibly precise adjustment of the system, and are also easily accessible while on the bike. Sidi's famous Heel Security System remains, too. With a small allen wrench, the heel cup's width can be adjusted to keep the heel planted, even during extreme efforts, creating not only a more efficient pedal stroke but allowing the rider to loosen up the forefoot closures slightly in the name of comfort without compromising control.

The Sidi Drako SRS Men's Shoe is available in the colors Vernice Black and Vernice White/Black. It comes in full and half sizes ranging from 39.0 to 48.0. Please note that these shoes are intended for use with 2-hole mountain bike cleats. While many pedal manufacturers recommend using a reinforcement plate between the cleat and the shoe to prevent sole damage, the Drako SRS comes equipped with a replaceable cleat wear plate, so the use a reinforcement plate is up to your discretion.

Great shoe except for the sole

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

This shoe is amazing in terms of the fit and comfort. However, the outsole is extremely soft. After 1 ride with a little bit of hike a bike the front sole piece was half chewed away. I had to put some football cleats in the front cleat mounts to save the rest. Especially since the replacements outsoles are only sold in full sets.

Drako's on my Feet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I am completely ga-ga for these shoes. Long story short, I have raced them in cyclocross, ridden them in the mud, the dust, and on the road. The fit is true to size, as I wear a 41 and that holds true for 80% of my shoes. I love the wire technology, they are extremely comfortable, clean up from mud rather nicely, and in my opinion, hold true to SIDI's reputation of quality.

Great Shoes!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have tried almost every shoe brand out there and have always been disappointed. These shoes are expensive, but are very durable and the wear parts can be replaced a plus. Always a perfect fit right out of the box.

not worth the coin

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had these since May and they are very comfortable but they do not hold up. Thank god the tread on these is WAY too soft and had to replaced very soon into having them. the Teckno 3 System is good but after six months one buckle doesn't perform well and needs to be replaced. Save you money and get something else

this little piggy cried wee wee wee...

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I wear 45.5 for my sidi spiders and ergo 3s, but not the drakos. The toe guard on the Drako does not flex at all. I can wear them, but it would be pretty painful after an hour or so. Consider sizing up. Otherwise the shoes are pretty impressive.

Great Shoe, Carbon Sole Takes a Beating

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love the look and fit of the shoe. It is a very stiff shoe, but also comfortable. The only disappointment is the that there is is no mid-sole protector like on the Spider or Dragon. The carbon fiber gets pretty scratched up from walking on the trail.

Excellent comfort and fit!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have a relatively slim foot and normally a EU41. But as you may have read elsewhere you may need to go up a size in the SIDI's. I did. I ended up getting a EU42 and they fit perfectly. I was a bit dubious about the Techno 3 closure before getting them but it works really, really well. And you're able to dial them down to a nice firm fit without discomfort. I'm not sure how they will hold up over time but they are going well so far. Love'm!

Hello Chun, here is a link to a size chart from SIDI's website - http://sidiamerica.com/sidi/faq.html#9 should help, and looks like a 40.5 would be closer to a size 7.

Same Sidi I've grown to love

I purchased a pair of Sidi Mtb. shoes back in the late 90's which I still use from time to time and have not worn out yet. I purchased another brand of cycling shoe that was supposed to be good as well and after a year of wear they are already falling apart. I decided to shell out the big bucks for the Sidi Drako SRS shoes and I'm glad I did. They fit my feet like a glove, they're light and appear durable. The only complaint I have is that the glossy black is a little on the flashy side. I'd have preferred a matt black. Perhaps after some good hard use they'll dull down a bit.

Game changer

I've been a super fan of SIDI forever. They've always had the best fit and performance. The only thing I didnt like was the weight... This is all changed now with the new wire system. I'm not sure how cycling shoes could get any better!
