Description

The Sidi Dominator 5 will change the way you feel about mountain biking shoes forever.

The Sidi Dominator 5 is one of our most popular shoes for women.  It assumes that ladies use a mountain bike-specific pedal system such as the Shimano M970, Crankbrothers Egg Beater pedals, or the Speedplay Frog. Since mountain bike cleats are small, they recess flush with the tread on the bottom of your shoes. With recessed cleats you can walk to your heart's content without having to worry about slipping and sliding on your cleats and making a racket as your plastic cleats click-clack on the ground. If you plan on making walking a significant part of your daily riding habits, a mountain bike shoe is ideal -- even if your only bike is a road bike!

The Lorica/Mesh construction of the Sidi Women's Dominator 5 offers superb ventilation and durability. Its Competition sole gives you improved traction and superior mud expulsion to make portaging your bike worlds easier. Sidi knows, too, that bunny hops and creek crossings require a snug fit (without cutting off your circulation). The Ultra SL buckle allows you to micro-adjust strap pressure, so the fit of your upper won't be too loose or too tight. The Ultra SL is mated to a Soft Arch Compression Strap to distribute the pressure of the upper of the shoe over a more dispersed area on the top of your foot. And, High Security Velcro strap (the Dominator 5 has two of these). The Velcro is reinforced with integrated locking teeth to absolutely, positively resist slippage.

The molded plastic heel cup and padded tongue with fit "relievers" are the final small (but important) details that deliver unparalleled comfort in a mountain bike shoe. Available in Black and Black/Silver from sizes 38-43.

  • NOTE: Sidi's warranty requires the use of the Crank Brothers Reinforcement Plate (SID0069) when using Crank Brothers pedals

Is there any way to get the blue color shoes in a size 37.5? I am sick of all black or all white options--why such limited color choice? Also want to make sure they will fit SPD clips for my spinning class and current bike. I don't want to have to deal with anything but SPD. Thanks very much! Kathy

Will be first-time 'bike-shoe' purchase...What's the next thing(s) I need now...I know nothing about this and am trying to step up my level of riding. Also, should I order 1/2 size up on these?
Any help very much appreciated! Thanks!

These shoes, as you may well know, allow you to use "clipless" bike pedals. These pedals will come with a cleat that installs on the bottom of the shoe that will engage into the pedal kinda like ski bindings. They twist to unlock and will automatically let go in a crash. Practice building the muscle memory of unclipping!

You can chose almost any clipless mountain bike pedal and the two-bolt cleats should be compatible with these shoes.
There are lots of options, but Shimano SPD and Crank Brothers Egg Beaters are probably the most common (which is a good thing because cleats wear out and not being able to find replacements is a pain...plus if you and your buddy have the same type of pedal its nice to be able to swap bikes without swapping pedals).

I generally would not size Sidi shoes up unless its because of width. Sidi runs what I call "European" fit...so they are maybe a little tight and narrow. But that's a good thing for a mtn bike shoe.

Best of luck ;-)

How do I measure my foot for cycling shoes to get a perfect fit?

Hey Shirley,

These fit slightly small. I would suggest going a half size up, especially if you're between sizes.

Is the black shoe that is pictured the actual shoe? I get the feeling that it is not. The one in the picture has a full leather upper with no mesh. The Black/Mamba color has mesh. Anyone know?
Also, is the full leather upper from 2011?

This picture is not actual. The shoe is not full lorica.

Not full lorica

Warning the shoes they are selling are the lorica with mesh uppers not the shoe you see in the photo. I've had Sidis for years my last pair got me through 6 full years of riding in TX(where you mtn bike year round). I prefer the full lorica upper for durability. G'luck finding 'em. I had to order from Europe.

Sidi Dominator 5 Womens MTB shoes

I loved my first pair of Sidi's which happened to be the men's version in my size. I then bought the Women's 2010 Dominator 5 model, and ended up being disappointed with the flimsy ratchet system that slips while riding and loosens the shoe. Also it is difficult to push the strap through the ratchet due to the flimsy-ness and due to the narrow slot it has to fit through. The shoes also feel looser in fit in the heel and slide around a bit, although they are the same size as my previous pair. A fellow racer described the same problems with her identical Sidi's to a T, so I know its not just me. Its a shame, the last pair I had were awesome and I was willing ot put out the funds for another great shoe experience. But that's not what I got. What happened Sidi?

Can these be used for indoor cycling?

Can these be used for indoor cycling?

Responded on

These can definitely be used for indoor training sessions. Since these shoes have a synthetic upper with minimal venting, these shoes will not breath as well as a vented indoor dedicated cycling slip on shoe. These shoes are a nice MTB trail shoe with single track in mind. Your feet may be slightly warm unless you utilize a fan system to keep you cool while training. That being said, you will not be disappointed using this as an indoor/outdoor shoe.

Why is the tab pictured but doesnt come on the actual shoe?

Rules the Trails!

These shoes are VERY comfortable. I wear a size 8 and bought these in a size 40. The adjustments allow you to dial in the fit. I've had trouble with my heal slipping with other shoes, but not these. Shoe stays on even when hiking the bike up a steep pitch. These were comfortable out of the box. No need to break them in.

Bionic!

These shoes make my bike an extension of me! I've had other bike shoes that make parts of my feet fall asleep on long rides. I've had bike shoes that let my foot move around inside there (kinda deFEET's the point). Dominator 5 delivers. No numbness, no movement, all efficeincy. I love these MTB shoes so much I got SPDs for my city bike, too. Wearing these makes bringing groceries home twice as easy... and the tread makes it so I can walk around in the store.

Sidis are known to fit a large variety of foot shapes very well. Also, they're Italian, so you can feel sexy on your bike. They're worth every penny.
