Get those berries.
Born at the intersection between rain, Portland, and cycling, the Showers Pass Metro Jacket includes every iconic element of the northwestern city except blackberries. But the rain protection that it affords you will allow you to go out on a two-wheeled excursion to harvest berries in all but the most torrential downpours.
The Metro's active ingredient is an Artex 2.5 Layer hardshell fabric that incorporates elements of wind-blocking and water-resistant materials to keep the weather on the outside. The seams are taped, so there aren't any points of easy ingress for rain, and the articulated elbows and exaggerated rear hem ensure that there are no gaps between jacket, gloves, and pants. Despite this protection, it still manages to breathe, which prevents the accumulation of clammy moisture inside the jacket.
The shoulders are reinforced, so they'll stand up to the abrasive thorns of blackberry bushes. You can also carry your bountiful harvest (or school/office-related paraphernalia) in a shoulder strap bag without worrying about grinding through the fabric. If you start to overheat during your commute, cool off with the Metro's front vents and rear exhaust port, which act together to guide cooling air across your body instead of just hitting you in the chest with a blast of frigid wind.
The cuffs are adjustable to regulate airflow on your arms, and the two, zippered rear pockets are water-resistant and angled for ease of access both on the bike and off. A third, interior chest pocket with media port lets you listen to Strawberry Jam while gathering the materials for blackberry cobbler. The full-length zipper dodges the front of your throat at the top to keep your neck and Adam's apple comfortable. The insulating collar lining also helps with that, wicking moisture to help keep your neck dry.
