We’ve long trusted Shimano’s shoes, alongside their superlative components, to get us to the finish line in comfort. New for he WR83 Women’s Shoe, though, is the adoption of the Japanese manufacturer’s Dynalast technology. Dynalast effective increases pedaling efficiency by putting your foot in the optimal position to reduce the amount of time you’re in the ‘dead spot’ of your pedal stroke. Sound like voodoo? We can’t vouch for the 0.56% reduction in dead spot time on each pedal stroke, but we can say that the shoes are quite comfortable, and clearly supportive to the foot.

The shoes close with one ratcheting buckle and two hook-and-loop straps that allow you to quickly tune and retune your fit as the race progresses. You won’t feel like you have to crank down that ratchet strap, either, thanks to a redesigned heel cup and footbox that places a premium on settling the foot into just the right position.
