Get It Before Labor Day Weekend—Order With Free 2-Day*by 5pm MT 9/2/15

If you find yourself pedaling out to the tops of some of your favorite gravity trails, you might want to run the double-ringed, 83mm-bottom-bracket-compatible Shimano Saint FC-M815-2 Crankset. Shimano gave this crankset a 22 ring for churning butter on the way up, and a 36 ring for mashing ‘taters on the way down. The translucent, slightly flexible resin bashguard protects your chainrings from cracking if you tag a rock while hauling the mail. The included SM-BB80 bottom bracket features cups with longer threads so it will comply with any aftermarket chain guide system.

Will this item fit a 68/73 bb?

Responded on

Wondered this myself. Shimano tech docs say no. FC-M815 is for 83 mm, 68/73 is FC-M810. (http://techdocs.shimano.com/techdocs/blevel.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302051860&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181679&bmUID=j_2bfti)

The defacto downhill crank

I am a huge fan of the SRAM drivetrain, but for downhill the Saint crankset is unbeatable, tough, great strength to weight ratio and looks great.

If you want to use a single ring in the future, can you attach a chainguide or are you stuck with 2 rings always?

Responded on

Yes you can attach a chianguide at any time. The Single Ring version is not Drilled for the small ring making it a stronger spider.
