It's Okay!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

From all the five star reviews I was looking forward to finally find the perfect gloves, but it comes up short!

Pro: True to size and it's a perfect fit to my hands. It does feel great when it can keep my hands warm and windproof.

Cons: It really can't keep your hands warm when outside temperature falls below 25F. It also is not as waterproof as it claims. I was outside shoveling wet snow and returns home with soaked gloves. The stitching is around my left thumb is getting loose from the snow shoveling...all this under 2013-2014 NYC's certainly colder than most recent years but I had high expectations from other reviews. Lastly, don't use it near velcros, it will stick to it and turn the gloves into a fuzzy ball if you repeat it often enough.

Great gloves, slight problems

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these gloves for bicycle commuting in the winter here in Utah. They are comfortable and warm, but don't necessarily keep out all of the cold wind after a couple miles. Also, the stitching on the leather strip on the wrist gaiter is starting to come come undone after just a short month and a half of use.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've had one pair of these for about 6 years and I finally feel like I need to order my second pair. I have used them ice climbing in warm weather, biking on cool days, and even carrying a rifle in Eastern Afghanistan. In all cases I have been very happy with their performance and the dexterity they offer. They also stretch much better than most other soft shells I've owned.

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have used these gloves for both winter mountain biking and xc skiing and they work perfectly for both applications. They are warm yet not at all bulky so they still provide plenty of dexterity.

Fantastic winter glove

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are definitely windproof, I wear them on my motorcycle at 45F, and they keep my hands a lot warmer than my leather Harley gloves. The fleece lining inside is extremely soft.

The fit: Buy a size UP. I measured my hands and got 4.5" across the knuckles like the sizing guide, and they were definitely a size small. I don't have Cassius Clay hands, but they're on the big side.

Other than that, these are probably the best I've ever worn.

Excellent Technical Gloves

Was looking for a glove for spring ski touring and mountaineering in the summer. This glove has been perfect. I tested the polartec material right away by putting my sink on full blast and putting my hand under it. It all ran right off, even after a minute under there. Hand completely dry. They protect from the elements such as snow/wind without being super hot. Used them way in the isolated backcountry through ropes and rain and they did perfectly.

Was debating between the sizes for a bit. I'm usually a large (size 12.5 feet, 6' tall guy), but they're weird system for measuring hands said I was a S/M. I ordered both and found I was definitely a large. The S/M fit my 5' 4" female mountaineering buddy perfectly.

Just What I Needed

This glove is the first soft shell glove I ever owned. It converted me! I am a really hot guy...or at least my wife tells me so. The soft shell material breathes easily and the gloves are plenty durable for days at the resort or warm spring days!

Light and soft

These are very lightweight gloves. They fit just fine and have a very soft lining. I could feel how warm they were instantly. My fingers remain usable as well! Good glove for moderate cold conditions. I have not had the chance to test them in the wind or rain yet, but It seems that they would do just fine.

Wondering how well these would work as:

Wondering how well these would work as:

A) a glove for spring skiing, say in 40 degree temps. I know they're not fully waterproof, but are they waterproof enough? Say I dipped them in a bucket of water for 5 seconds - would my hands be dry?

B) a liner under my Hestra Heli Mitt, for really cold days. Will they be too bulky?

Best Answer Responded on

Yes, they're waterproof enough. Should be fine skiing in 40 degree temps as well. As for the liner in the hestra mitt, probably a little too bulky. You can always try it and send it back if it doesn't work, but my guess would be that if your mitt fits you fairly well now, this will make it too tight.

Responded on

I did get these, so figured I'd answer my own questions:

A) They were great for warm weather skiing. I don't know how well they'd stand up in a downpour, but for skiing in ~35 degree temps they kept me warm enough (and my fingers generally get pretty cold). I also wore them while it was snowing and they were fine there too.

B) Possible under the Heli Mitt. A little bulky, but if it's that cold and you really need it, definitely doable.

Really well made glove that is very versatile. Warm enough and waterproof for those Spring days and streamlined enough to wear as liners under heavier gloves in the dead of winter. In Vermont in January these were perfect to wear under my heavier gloves because I was able to take off the bulky glove and manipulate bindings, zippers, cell phone etc. without exposing my hands. Really good product, great price!

Pretty little things

They kept my fingers warm when I first got them, but then I tried using them for yardwork and they started wearing through real quick. The grip pads on the thumb and index finger started coming off too, and there's a definite worn spot on one of the fingers. So that's what makes them pretty little things.

Good snug feel. They keep the wind out brilliantly, i use the for biking, walking around in sub zero temperatures and my hands are always warm. Skin tight fit with the 4 way stretch.

Unanswered Question

How big are the differences between S/M...

How big are the differences between S/M and L ? I wonder if L are not gonna be too big in size of my hand: Girth - 21,1cm and lenght - 20cm.

Seirus Soft Shell Gloves

The gloves are awesome but I bought the same sizes as last time and they are smaller so we had to do some swapping and I need to order another pair.

Seirus Soft Shell Lite Glove Review

I got these as a Christmas present as every day gloves. I wear them walking around town, I wear them in my morning commute when my car is still warming up, and I wear them for brushing the snow off my car. I've also taken them on several runs, as well as some light hikes in the last month. The fit great, seem very durable, and are relatively stylish. All I have to say is Seirus knows their gloves... if you're looking to buy a glove for every day use and some sport use, I'd recommend these. Definitely happy with them.

Beautiful Fit

These gloves fit so well that I often look down at them on my hands and marvel over them. I use them to ride my bicycle to & from work everyday and they are thin enough to allow fingertip manipulation including cell-phone button-pressing yet keep my hands warm enough in wind chills of -5 degrees.

Great gloves... not so great service

I ordered these gloved for my husband for Christmas and he loved them. Unfortunately, The sizing was odd having only 2 sizes - S/M and large. I went for the large and it was too big so I called to exchange the gloves. I paid to ship the return of the Large gloves, and ordered the S/M. I asked for Backcountry to honor the discount coupon I used on the original pair. They would not. I would have to pay full price for the S/M size, although it was an exchange. So, I did not reorder with Backcountry.

Fits like a ... you guessed it... Glove

These gloves are sweet. Obviously they are extremely light, windproof, and waterproof. They are warm above about 20 degrees and warm for shorter periods in colder weather. If you are looking for a glove that will allow you to use your hands and fingers while keeping them warm-these are the gloves you want.

Review Title

I bought these for work use and like others stated, they're wind and rain proof! The perfect thickness and still able to move all your fingers. They're worth the money!

Very nice.

Some gloves keep your hands warm, but give you about as much dexterity as if you had tennis rackets for hands. With these gloves, I can still manipulate most objects so I don't have to take my gloves off to do in camp chores (what is the point of that?) Keep in mind though, that these are lightweight. I wear smartwool liners under these and my hands stay toasty, but by themselves I would only wear them down to about 32 degrees. I also wear these biking. They do a good job of keeping the wind from freezing my knuckles.
