Eh.

Wore this for the Antarctic Ice Marathon and I'm still a bit conflicted if it was the right choice. I could breathe ok, which was good. It stayed on my face well, and the velcro allows you to modify the fit as necessary. But it froze from my breathe condensing. And by the end, it had rubbed the skin off the bridge of my nose. The most annoying thing was that it caused my goggles to fog up, and then they froze over. How does one defeat that problem?

How are these sized? Do you recommend sm or med for an average woman? And also, does it velcro in the back or just slide over the head?

Hey Brigit,
I recommend going with the Medium, and yep it has a velcro closure on the back.

Same thing as the last one I had

These are the best design face shields you can get. If you wear glasses under goggles these really make a difference with the nose hole so you don't get breath back fog.

Not Bad

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had this for a while. I have used it many times. I like the fact that it is not hard to breath in, however I would never use this below 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit. It is not particularly warm. The gusts of wind will get to you.

Works Great!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Keeps my face warm on those chilly days. The wind doesn't come through. My nose doesn't freeze.

I want to buy the combo scarf for my boyfriend but I don't know what size to get, med or large.

I have not found a size chart for this thing. It seems from several reviews on this site and others that most people are going for the Large and if it is a little big it is not a huge deal.

This should give you a baseline taken from their other products:
S/M
Head Circuference 20 - 24in

L/XL
22 - 26in

Works great

This fleece is great. I use it when I'm out in the cold and it works great, especially for snowboarding. The only downside is that when you wear it for an extended period of time it puts a little bit of pressure on your nose (from sliding down slightly from gravity). Still, I will take that for the benefits of keeping me and my face warm. I have several friends that also have this product that feel the same way I do about it.

Does the job

I only use this mask on the coldest of days, and every time I've used it, I've been happy to have it. I usually wear a neck gaiter and pull it up over my face when it gets really cold. However, last season I learned my lesson the hard way when I got frostnip on my face in the areas that were not covered by the gaiter. The area affected was the gap between my goggles and the gaiter on my cheeks. What I really like about this mask is that the edges are specially molded to fit under your goggles and leave no skin exposed. Even with this tight seal, my goggles do not fog.

Some of the downsides: The breathing holes only let a certain amount of fresh air in. When I'm really skiing hard and exerting myself, I feel like I can't get enough oxygen. THen I just pull the mask down and expose my face. I have seen some people who cut a larger hole in the mouth area of their masks. Also, the back side of the mask where the velcro attaches is much narrower than the length of the front of the mask+neck gaiter. So, unless I close up my jacket just perfectly, I get some cold drafts from where the narrow closure doesn't quite cover the back of my neck (especially when I'm looking down). The front provides great coverage, but the back is a little lacking. I ordered a size large to make sure I had enough room for all of the layers on my neck (jacket, baselayers, etc.) and for my ponytail that hangs down.

didn't fit face very well

It did not fit my face very well or stay on for that matter. I would recommend you spend a little more for the full head neofleece.

How are these sized? Are there any measurements that can be taken to insure a proper fit? Thanks!

Does not fit my face very well.

I used this for skiing and cold weather sporting events. It does not fit my face very well. The problem area is under my eyes and around my nose. There are gaps and it does not fit close. It causes my glasses to fog. The mask keeps slipping down my face. This may just be my facial anatomy (large head and face). On the plus side, it does keep your face and neck warm. I will buy another product in the future.

How's the neck gaiter on this? Is it worth paying a little extra for or would I be just as well off with a face guard and a neck gaiter separately?

The neck scarf is great on this. Covers your neck really well. Just zip up your jacket and you dont have to worry about any cold getting in. I would get this over rather than just a face mask.

How is the neck protection with this thing?...

How is the neck protection with this thing? It looks like it'd be great for the face, but is it worth paying extra or would I be better off just buying a face mask and wearing the neck gaiter i already own?

Responded on

I dont like wearing a ton of stuff. So if I can avoid wearing all these separate items of clothing I will.
