When it’s dinnertime in the backcountry, grab the Sea To Summit X-Bowl and enjoy a tough yet flexible container for your well-earned meal. This bowl features collapsible silicone sidewalls and a tough nylon base that doubles as a cutting board for chopping veggies. The soft sides fold down for flat packing and can handle food temperatures up to 300 degrees.
I am sure you are wondering why I put "Must Have" in the title. I carry this thing with me always and I use it for my dogs water dish. I can collapse the bowl and put it on the outside of my backpack and within easy reach. It works great for them and is super easy to stash for me.
However, given the nature of the materials used in the bowl, it does transfer a good deal of heat. Will it hold up to use with boiling water? Yes, but the heat transfers through and can burn you if youre not careful. However, it is a very intelligently designed piece of gear and with the quality that Sea-to-Summit always delivers.

The X-Bowl is a legit backcountry bowl. It's highly collapsible, lightweight, and the bottom can be used as a cutting board. These things are food safe, can go down to 40F, up to 356F, can be used with boiling water, and are dishwasher safe. Talk about bombproof. These things rock!
I began using this bowl for myself, I loved it's compactness, weight and versatility. It is easily cleaned and holds enough food for a full meal. Over time, i have been buying more for myself and my dogs, who accompany me on many backcountry adventures. For the dogs's food and water this bowl this is excellent. Here my dog, Cassady, has drank all the water and is moving onto dinner. I have since replaced the conventional bowl with an X-Bowl. great gear item for backpackers, dog owners and anyone who values their outdoor meals
This is a brilliant idea and design. The bowl packs down tiny, but is perfectly sized, quite sturdy, and is generally perfect. I replaced a titanium bowl with this, and much prefer my sea-to-summit, as it never becomes too hot to touch. Because it folds down flat and can even be turned inside out, licking it clean is a breeze and I never have funky dishes after being in the woods for a while.
These are great, the bowls stack into the plates and then fit right into my cooking setup. They take up no space and weigh next to nothing, easy to clean and durable... I bring one along for the dog bowl too.
Very convenient. Packs small, but still gives you a nice big bowl to eat your meals in. My oatmeal is always better if i can eat it out of a bowl instead of a pouch!
these are great bowls for backpacking and camping but I have found that the collapseable tupperwareworks better for me just because it comes with a lid and I can use it to store things if I need to. These bowls are easy to clean
While most people focus on getting the proper gear like boots, packs, and tents, you still need the small stuff like sporks and bowls to make camping enjoyable. This small collapsible bowl packs away to nothing, but when fully extended has plenty of volume to fill with a hearty meal. The pack space to pleasure ratio on this one is worth it even for the minimalist.
I purchased this bowl to use as a water dish for my bassett hound that go hiking with us. they have long ears and the soft side collapsible water bowls found at pet supply stores did not work well. The X-Bowl is a great solution for a food or water dish for your K-9 Buddy.
This thing is durable, packs small, and is easy to clean. It might be slightly heavier than some other option, but it's worth the extra half ounce. If you need a backpacking bowl that will last forever, get the X-Bowl!
These X-Bowls are the cats meow!!! Packs tight, functional, easy-to-clean and they don't collapse with food in them. what else could I say? If I'm not eating food directly out of the package I'm eating it from the X-Bowl!
So glad these finally came back into stock. I recommend buying one now if you are considering it cause they sell like hot cakes and for good reason!
The only bowl or plate I ever take camping now. Slides right into my pack or dry box, no more trying to find other things to nest into the bowl that never really fit right.
can't get much better than this. I'm gonna have to buy another for my car camping dry box (my other bowl doesn't collapse and is taking up way too much space). I've been using this all summer for bike-camping trips. I used it for an overnight tour in the spring as well where i crammed all my stuff in to a day pack and it was so nice to just slide this bowl in flat. wish i could choose my color, but oh well, it's great either way!
I like this bowl because its light, small and made of durable rubber and plastic. The only thing I don't like about it, is that it won't stay collapsed. It immediately pops half way open, but it''s still small enough to pack.
However, given the nature of the materials used in the bowl, it does transfer a good deal of heat. Will it hold up to use with boiling water? Yes, but more...
