Leave no trace and smell no stink with the Sea To Summit Trash Dry Sack.

Keep your garbage from stinking up your backpack, raft, or kayak with the Sea To Summit Trash Dry Sack. Stick your disposable garbage sack in this nylon bag, and hang it in camp to keep from littering the ground. Close the waterproof roll top when the time comes to leave, and it seals in all odors and any nasty contents. Sea To Summit added Hypalon clip loops and daisy chains to the Trash Dry Sack so you can easily rig it to a raft or onto a backpack.

    Seems to work well

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Picked this up last minute to use as a food bag for bear hang. Sealed up tight, no smell seemed to leak out. On our second night out we had a bad thunderstorm with hail and when we took it down in the morning everything stayed dry inside. Seems pretty durable but only time will tell!

    Pack it out in style

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've always just used plastic garbage bags to pack out my trash... usually leading to unpleasant odors and leakage making their way into my pack. This thing takes care of both of those issues. There are ample attachment points to secure it to your pack or hang it out of reach of curious animals.

    Haven't really used it...

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I got one of these thinking what a great idea! However in reality, I have found that the trips that I'm likely to use it on, typically journey biased stuff, my rubbish is very minimal as I have minimal packaging and an empty peanut butter jar is my rubbish pot, normally lasts for 3 weeks. I can't say I can recommend it, but that's because of how I operate in the field. The few times I have used it, it have done exactly what it claims to be able to do.

The trash dry sack is great. Took it out for the first time recently on the AT. The garbage bag liner keeps any smells from leaching into your backpack if you choose to carry inside. Easy to attach to the outside of a pack as well. Well worth it.

    Size listed is wrong

The size listed is bigger than it's actual size, on the packaging it has 2 different sizes listed. If you are using this as a trash sack, you probably would not care, but I needed a specific size for an item to fit inside it, so it did not work for me as it was misleadingly too small. Packaging error was what the company told me for why it had 2 different sizes listed on the packaging.

      Keeps your pack clean

Great to take to store food in and keep wrappers in one place. Perfect for hanging in the tree to keep the bears out its waterproof so the dew and rain won't soak your food. The best choice for food storage cause it rolls up however small you need it.

Is this a good consideration for a food...

Is this a good consideration for a food sack or there other better STS options? I need a food sack for a 4 day/3 night trip. The sack will include my cookset (Optimus Crux & weekender) and mostly Mountain Home meals.

Are you looking specifically for StS selections, or are you willing to consider other alternatives? Also, are you going to be needing something that will prevent critters and varmint from stealing your food in the evening while you sleep, or are neither of those potential liabilities? If they are, and you are feeling a bit lenient towards consideration of brands other than StS, I would look into the Ursack Minor (if your concern rests primarily with rodents) or the Ursack Major (if you are worried about larger animals (i.e. bears)).
