Some fast-drying microfiber towels feel like cardboard, and the sensation of drying off with a piece of cardboard is not what we would call wonderful. Luckily, the Sea To Summit Tek Towel has a plush terrycloth feel. The Tek Towel's unique fabric dries faster than cotton towels and is machine washable. A mesh and nylon zippered pouch makes it easy to bring this Sea To Summit Tek Towel to the beach, the pool, or on kayaking adventures.
Bottom Line: There's nothing stiff and cardboardy about the Sea To Summit Tek Towel.
Feels soft (unlike a lot of the cardboard feeling synth towels out there,) and packs up super small. It also dries off super fast, and although isn't as absorbent as say a cotton towel, it definitely makes up for it in the other ways I already stated. A must have for a pack.
This towel is great for the gym or travel. I ordered the large which is fine for camping but if you want to fully wrap it around yourself the xL would be the way to go.

I love this towel...I have a large, and it's my bath towel for when I'm travelling. It's light, packs small, and has a fuzzy feel almost like a normal towel. It also dries quickly.Since I tend to shower in the morning, and often then have to pack up immediately, this towel has been packed damp more times than I can count. It does tend to get a mouldy smell after a bit, but the smell disappears when it gets washed.Another note: not good as a beach towel or for drying off after being in the ocean. It works fine, but getting sand out of it is a *pain*.

Solid towel, used on a regular basis for travel, exercise and general towel-related activities. Just gotta remember to wash it every now and again, otherwise it starts to stink up.
I've washed this as I'd wash a normal towel and had no issues. I've had and used this thing as a normal towel at home for the past 4 years.. still in great condition.
To be on the safe side, I would wash it using a sport-detergent (e.g. SportWash) made for synthetics. Warm water should be fine. Don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets, though, as they tend to reduce the moisture-absorbing qualities of these synthetics.
I brought the large size to the tropics for 2 weeks and it dried super quick even in 90 plus % humidity. It does help to wash it first. Someone else on my trip didn't and it was not as effective. Overall a great towel and worth the purchase.
Took it on recent trip to India. I got the XL for maximum coverage. It works great, although I did follow other people's advice about washing it beforehand.
Which is better among all the three. Undecided which one to get. To me pocket towel looks small, Dry Lite seems dry faster (turn off is without a bag for it), Tek towel looks like it absorb more water. I plan to get a Large size soon. I need advises to help me to decide. I need something light, fast drying, good absorption.
Don't worry about how much absorbancy your camping towel has. You can always wring it out and go back to sopping up the water. You should focus on weight ratio and drying time.
If you want to cut down on size compared to a regular cotton towel, this is the way to go. I got the x-large and that thing gets small and compact. That size is large enough to wrap my whole body with (I'm a small chica). I use this for traveling not only for its compactness but it dries a lot faster than a cotton towel. I like that it comes with its little mesh bag. I usually don't put it back into the sack, rather I use the sack to keep my toiletries. It doesn't feel as soft as a normal towel, it is a little "grabby" but that's cause its so absorbant. As for washing, I throw this in with my normal wash and it comes out fine. Even when I'm not traveling this is part of my collection of normal towels at home. I've had and used this for the past 4 years. Looks like new!
We actually just bought these to carry with us for water rides at theme parks. It works great, they are compact enough to carry in a small bag and they dry off quickly after use.
I bought three of these towels over a year ago in the XL size for a deployment to Afghanistan. They were great. They saved me enourmous amounts of room in bags and dried extremely fast. Normal washing cycles didn't screw up the microfiber at all either. Extremely Impressed...I'm getting one in the Medium to put into my assault pack for convoys, helo rides, and short trips between bases.
I bought three of these for my deployment to Afghanistan. I bought the XL size and they saved a ton of space in my bags on the way over. They work really great and dry extremely fast. I will probably buy a smaller size and might even try the microfiber for my next deployment just for short trips to and from bases.
I agree with one of the reviewers below. An excellent towel, but it kind of feels weird (grabby might be the right word). Besides that, it is super absorbent and doesn't stink after continual use. Would recommend it to anybody!
Sea to Summit says nothing about it being anti-bacterial, and I can vouch that it does get sort of stinky after several uses without proper drying. Then again I used it in the tropics where it never really dried.
I got a Med and it is good enough to dry off with after a dip in the lake. It will dry super fast and comes in a neat little travel bag thing. Love it!
Excellent quality, good price. This towel is irreplaceable during hiking and mountaineering. In compare with other fabrics microfiber has a lot of practical advantages, if you take a practical approach to the matter. I have one, but Iâll make amends for this mistake (Iâm going to buy a couple some other sizes of Sea to Summit Tek Towels)
This thing is SUPER absorbent. I got a small and it's more than enough to dry me off after a shower. Leaves you feeling clean and dry, like no cotton towel ever could. Just for kicks, I soaked it thoroughly to see how much it could take in.
Man. The thing was as heavy as a gallon jug. Wrung right out, ready to dry again.
his is very close to a terrycloth towel, but is not just like one. However, after a couple uses and one washing I have really begun to prefer it over a terrycloth towel. Unlike a cotton towel, this towel actuals leaves me DRY, not damp dry, and it continues to be able to dry me when it itself is still wet, which never happens because it air dries in an hour.
I can see how some might find this towel "grabby", and it was when it was brand new, but after one washing it lost a lot of that feeling. It doesn't drag across your skin the way a terrycloth towel does, but it's still very soft (much softer than those chamois towels that REI and MSR sell) and I found it very easy to get used to.
I bought the XL for use as a full-coverage bath towel. When packed, it is a fraction of the size of an equivalent sized cotton towel. I don't bother with the mesh stuff sack, as I find it difficult to get the towel back into it- too small.
The Sea to summit towel is perfect for an avid camper or hiker. I bought the Size size and its perfect for my pack, small enough to get the job done! Drys fast.
I use this daily! My house is cold and cotton towels don't dry well. For daily use I like the feel of this better than the chamois type. It can hold more h20 than the chamois type, hence it takes longer to dry if really wet. Bottom line: I like it, I just bought another.
The towel is softer then some other posters have claimed that its scratchy or "grabs", the blue is a very beautiful shade. I washed it before the first use and it seems to hold up and dry fairly quickly, This towel will be traveling on a cruise in place of lugging several towels and risk the lost of the cruise ships towels.
I should give this towel 5 stars because it is so much nicer than the MSR or the REI models, but it still needs that something extra. The towel does have a great terry cloth feel unlike the MSR's but the way it sort of grabs at your skin instead of sliding smoothly like a cotton towel keeps it from being perfect. For a light weight highly absorbent towel with a good feel I suggest this, much easier to pack than a cotton towel, and much faster drying.
I have used this towel for travel and camping (size L). It's nice to have a standard size towel that packs down so small and is easy to shove in a corner of the pack. It absorbs great, dries you off quick, and dries off itself in a reasonable amount of time.
I purchased this one because I liked the fluffy-beach towel texture, however in reality the micro fibers are a bit grabby on the skin (dry and well moisturized skin alike). The "grabiness" lessens a bit with every wash, but it's still a little grabby. In the end, I let my boyfriend use this one, and have picked up a Sea-To-Summit DryLite for myself.
I bought this for the gym, because I bike there, it's a pain to lug towels with me that are so bulky, I'll use it camping too. I tested it out yesterday in the size Small and it was definitely enough to dry my whole body off and my hair! It dried out fast too on the towel rack at home.
Feels soft (unlike a lot of the cardboard feeling synth towels out there,) and packs up super small. It also dries off super fast, and although isn't more...
This towel is great for the gym or travel. I ordered the large which is fine for camping but if you want to fully wrap it around yourself the xL would more...
