Throw the Sea to Summit DryLite Towels in your pack, and have a quick way to dry your dishes or yourself at camp. These super-soft microfiber towels are incredibly absorbent, and dry faster than you can say, “Wow these towels dry out insanely fast.” Almost. These compact, machine-washable towels work for everything from weeklong backpack trips to dayhikes with the fam. We can't control which color you receive, but we're sure you'll like it.
Bottom Line: These towels dry out almost as fast as they absorb water.
This thing is great. I purchased the XL and was gonna take it backpacking but to me is alittle to large . so will use it car camping or around the house. I can only get it packed down to a 4x6 square . still pretty small but takes up as much room as two pairs of socks rolled up.
Right now, go get rid of every towel you have ever used, rip them up, burn them, bury them. Then buy some of these, it is the last and only towel you will ever need.
I was really surprised and impressed when I purchased 3 of these towels, small, medium and extra larged. It is really an understatement to say that these towels are absorbant, they are REALLY absorbant, can be run out and used again almost instantly.
The XL is the size of a full size towel and whether at the beach or kayaking has been used by 3 soaked people to fully dry off. The smaller ones are great for dishes, handtowels..etc.
The Towels are really light, pack very small, dry fast, absorb everything. I'm not going to lie, I even have one in my bathroom in the home now, after using this towel, I've never felt dryer.

I bought the biggest towel, which was maybe a little overkill, but it's the best towel I've used! This thing absorbs everything! It dries very quickly and cleans up very well. This is a must have! They're super soft and have a very nice feel!
Dry Lite Towel XS 12 x 24 / 30 x 60cm 1.3 oz 37g Dry Lite Towel Small 16 x 32 / 40 x 80cm 2.2 oz 62g Dry Lite Medium 20 x 40 / 50 x 100cm 3.6 oz 100g Dry Lite Towel Large 24 x 48 / 60 x 120cm 5.1 oz 145g Dry Lite Towel XL 30 x 60 75 x 150cm 8.1 oz 230g
Great towel. I have the small and I always take it with me camping and backpacking now. Absorbs an absurd amount of liquid and can be washed in the washing machine.
I bought a similar towel when in Afghanistan and was shocked by how unfulfilled it left me. Yes, the cheaper army towel soaked up tons of water but it wouldn't easily ring out, resulting in an uncomfortable cold sensation akin to the feeling of wearing a cold wet cotton t-shirt around at a theme park before summer's truly kicked off lol. Chilling is not something I associate with a towel. This towel however is equally thin and lightweight, but exceeded expectations: super absorbent (shockingly so), surprisingly soft, has the attached hanging loop, it's possible to ring it out and keep using to some degree, and it dries fast. To further drive home my point, the Sea To Summit's small sized towel is a fourth the size of my similar army towel and yet the Sea To Summit does a better job drying me off. Ignoring body coverage, the small is 100% adequate with drying you after a full shower. That said I did get my wife a large because she likes the sensation of being wrapped when toweling off. One last thing worth noting- these towels build stink at about twice the rate of your traditional hotel-type towel. I assume it's because these towels have so much less cloth and therefore your body funk gets all concentrated. Bottom line: very glad I purchased this towel.
Which is better among all the three. Undecided which one to get. To me pocket towel looks small, Dry Lite seems dry faster (turn off is without a bag for it), Tek towel looks like it absorb more water. I plan to get a Large size soon. I need advises to help me to decide. I need something light, fast drying, good absorption.
I have the MSR Packtowl UltraLite, this Sea To Sum Dry Lite and the Sea to Sum Tek towels. - Tek Towel feels almost like the real cotton towels. It is thinner & lighter than the normal cotton ones but is the heaviest of the three you are asking about. - MSR Ultra is the lightest. I am not a fan as it does not even feel like fabric. - Dry Lite is the best & while the previous reviewer says it is sticky, if you want light weight and a soft feel, this is the one to get.
I bought the Tek first for car camping, then the MSR for backpacking but didn't like it so I bought this Dry Lite and love it.
Hi Maitely.. I didn't not get any answers but I finally got the Drylite.. It work well, but you have to get use to it as the 'feeling' is sticky to the skin of its high absorbent. I travel to climb around.. so i think the Drylite is more compact compare to Tek towel work better for me..
Alvin, did you ever get an answer to your question of "tek towel vs drylite towel"? I'm the same situation now and trying to figure out which one will be most compact for extremely light backpacking for 2 weeks! Any answers you were able to get would be so helpful to me. I don't see any posted here yet.
excellent towel. I use it traveling throughout europe and it works great! Drys fast. Also great for beaches as the sand does not stick to it even when it is wet!
I bought the XL size and is huge, which I love cause it wraps me really nice. It dries me really quick and when you pack it on your bag it doesn't takes that much of space. I just love it!

I also have the MSR PackTowel UltraLite! Both brands dry equally as fast however, MSR's UltraLite has the consistency of a heavy paper shop towel and S2S's DryLite feels a bit softer.
I have a small one of these that I use as a hand & face towel when travelling and take with me when backpacking (hiking) to use as a "bath" towel if I jump in a lake.
Dries fast. Feels like a typical microfibre towel. Gets a mouldy smell if it gets packed up damp too many days in a row (about a week), but the smell washes out fine.
By far the smallest travel towel I have used and still has the same drying benefits of the thicker and much larger ones. I purchased the Large and it covers my entire body...6 ft tall. It is a must if you are looking to save space, weight, and time drying yourself off.
This towel is great for doing backpacking. whether it is around a country or in the backcountry. It is great for doing doing a run, then going swimming as part of a training routine. lite and compactible, you'll for get about it when youre running
When weight is an issue, this is the towel grab! So light and thin, super absorbent. It shouldn't matter that this doesn't come with a little diddy bag like the other ones. If weight is your concern, than a little stuff sack just adds more oz. I use this for backpacking, travel, camping, and wildfire assignments. The stitching on the edge of the towel on mine has started to go, but it doesn't really seem to be falling apart or anything. It does get stinky if you haven't washed it in a long time.
i bought a lot of 'things' before my 3month trip ... the Sea to Summit DryLite Towel was, BY FAR, the best purchase i made ! it was perfect for drying off after a shower, and dried super fast. i used it over and over again.
I'd have to agree, the medium should be plenty for drying off (note I can't comment whether medium provides enough coverage). I'm about to post a review.
A medium should have plenty of drying capacity for any activity, including showers. I've used an XS for showering, just ring it out if it gets saturated.
This is one amazing little towel! I packs the punch of a large bath towel, in the size of a little, wimpy t.p. sheet. It dries the whole body and the towel dries really fast too. It doesn't hold any odors and is great for backpacking. A small investment for such a good product!
This is an awesome little towel. I have the medium and is has come in handy numerous times in the short amount of time I have had one. Its very soft and absorbant. Gret purchase
Great towel for traveling, I just took it to Thailand for 3 weeks and used it on the beach, at the bungalows, I bought an XL and it folds up nicely and doesn't take up a lot of space, not a big deal it doesn't come with a bag.
I got the MSR Packtowl UltraLite first since it was the lightest but upon receiving it, it is not soft & looks like it could be torn eventually due to its fabric. To be fair, I can't say that it will but it just looks like it.
I decided to get this SeaToSummit DryLite as it is the second lightest out there and I am glad I did. It feels soft and dries fast so I do recommend this over the MSR.
As for drying time, I did not perform a time test but I think the MSR does dry faster.
Last, I did get an XL Sea To Summit towel (not this lightweight version) and it feels almost like a regular cotton towel. It is much heavier though.
This towel accompanied me on a recent camp out and quickly turned into an essential piece of gear. I have the XS which is plenty big for any type of hand towel stuff - just don't expect to be able to dry yourself off after a shower with it. I used this thing for almost everything: wiping out the inside of my tent, drying off hands, wiping out cooking gear, etc. Never let me down, and so light I didn't even know it was there.
I used this towel in the Medium after my shower this morning and it was super soft and super absorbent. Make sure to wash them in warm water before your first use and throw it in alone to prevent color leaching!
I am looking for a lightweight towel which I can take with me to summer campings and backpacking, something which dries fast. I am 5'3" , does any one know what size i would better go with? and which one of those towel? there are many kind of these new towels dry lite, tek and pocket towel. any advice which one is better to get?
The prior answer reads more like an ad, no comparison with the featured product - pretty useless. The drylite towel is more comfortable to me than any of the other pack towels. I would recommend you find some to get a feel for yourself before buying.
The question is whether you want a full sized body-type towel to dry off after a swim or one used to wash up at night before heading to bed. I would recommend the MSR Ultralight XL towel for full body coverage after swimming and the MSR Nano for washing up at night (face and hands). The Ultralite absorbs an incredible amount of moisture, dries super fast, and packs down amazingly small (about the size of a grapefruit). The MSR Nano is great in that it's soft and easy on the skin, absorbs an insane amount of liquid, dries fast, and is the smallest towel MSR makes (about the size of an package of gum). Both towels will serve you well. These are my recommendations. MSR Nano (https://www.backcountry.com/store/CAS0568/MSR-Packtowl-Nano-Lite.html); MSR Ultralite (http://www.backcountry.com/store/CAS0282/MSR-Packtowl-UltraLite.html)
I have got this one last summer for camping but I have used it for swimming, traveling, taking shower, etc. I have let my little niece try it out and she calls it Magic Towel, so today I came to buy one for her and a larger one for myself. Just to let you know that the medium or large one is not good for pool or beach you have to go with a larger one. Also do not forget to buy a sack for it(a perforateted one) to be able to pack even when it is wet. I am so much in love with it but would love to have more option in size and color and probably a case which comes with it.
I have got this one for summer campings ,but now I use it all the time. It is very thin but absorbs much better than any towel, I wish I could get a wearable one but they haven't made such thing yet, I have ordered a few in larger sizes for home but the medium size definitely works for travel. If you fold it it takes space like a cigarette pack, very small (Medium size) and since it didn't come with a zipper I had to order a small bag for it.Anyway great product, you will love it!
Anyone know how this compares to the MSR Ultralight towels? Trying to decide between the two - my main concern is how well they wring out and how fast they dry. Thanks.
Perfect size for packing down. I carry a large and a small when my girlfriend and I hike together and collectively they add very little weight or volume to my pack. The large can dry both of us after a wash up in the creek, but don't expect to wear it around your waist and trot around camp. You might need the XL for that, otherwise you may be showing off your naughty bits. The small is good for miscellaneous stuff. I usually keep it handy for wiping sweat when it is hot outside. Dries pretty quickly. I have read reviews from people that say that it dries when packed wet. Mine did not. And it smelled pretty bad afterwards. That was my only gripe with this product, but it is to be expected from a microfiber product.
Just bought this for my upcoming trip to Africa with the Peace Corps for two years. I have never owned a camping towel before, and bought this one based upon the reviews I read here on backcountry.com. I wanted lightweight, fast drying, and length. I'm a 5'9 and not the skinniest girl on the block and this towel (the XL size) provides MORE than enough room for a full wrap around. I tested this after a shower to towel off and dry my hair which is pretty thick and it did the job better than expected. The whole towel dried within a minute....I felt like I was watching it dry! The XL towel will probably take up a bit more room in my pack than the M or L, but it's worth it to have the comfort of a full towel away from home. Buy it and you won't regret it! Great material too!!! Nice and soft!
I got the XL size for my trip to Mt Elbrus and the Caucasus Mountains. It was a godsend. The hotels in the Baksan Valley either did not have towels, or they were lets just say... unwashed. This towel not only effectively dried me after showers and climbs, but it actually dried, balled up in the bottom of my backpack, I was shocked and pleasantly surprised when I pulled out the towel 4 hours later after stuffing it soaking wet to find it warm and dry! (And it was cold and wet outside!) All around great investment. I would recommend this to anyone.
Very absorbent, dries quickly. What more could you want? I used it to stop the "sleep stopping squeaking and squawking" my air core pad would make with every slight movement (rubbing on tent floor). Double duty.... great product. Don't kid yourself, get the big one.
decent towel, works great to dry you off! I am afraid to wring it out because i feel it might mess with the integrity of the towel, but all in all it does exactly what i hoped for. quick drying light weight and portable.
packs as small as can be and still have a nice feel. I have the large DryLite Towel and it just fits around my 33in waist to quickly change. When ringed out it dries fast. The more it gets used the softer is seems to be getting even though it was soft to begin with.
Worth the extra money for a seemingly small towel. Towels are essential gear often overlooked until you need them for a variety of reasons. Even after cleaning off your soaked hands, face, or knife/machete you will be thrilled to own a very absorbent towel. Towels have countless applications on the trail and I keep one folded in my E&V pouch so I have quick access to it. As small essential towels are concerned this is a great pick. It packs tight and will soak up an amazing amount of water and dries quickly, easily ringable. Shamwow style results.
My son took two of these towels with him on a sailing trip to the Bahamas. He really liked them. He says they took a little longer than he thought they would to dry, but they stayed soft and packed well in his one small duffel that he was allowed to take onboard. He is 5'4" and says the large towel was the right size for him. I plan on getting more of these towels for my husband who is going to Philmont soon.
I am in the militarty and when I need to deploy I need to pack light. These towels are great for that they fold up small and don't take up a lot of room. They do there job very well and dry fast too. A great buy
I used to think a towel's a towel, until I found this little guy. It packs incredibly small, and absorbs an impressive amount of water. I for the small size. It's about as small as I'd go to try your whole body. Perfect for a hands/face towel, or minimalist backpacking towel.
Perfect travel towel. I went with medium if you are looking for a good balance of light and packable but still big enough you don't feel like its a hand towel. Recommend Large or XL if you want something you can fully wrap around your waist.
I started off with a L Tek Towel but now have this DryLite and I like it MUCH better.
I went with the XL because I prefer the full coverage and use it more for car camping and traveling vs. backpacking (I have a smaller tek towel I'm still using for backpacking, but will probably replace with a small drylite)
Even though this one looks more like the texture of a chamois, I find it to be a much better and softer feel across the skin than other towels, especially compared to the tek towel which felt very grabby when you run it across your skin. Even though it (tek towel) looks like a plush cotton towel, as soon as you run it across the skin it has this weird rough grabby feeling. This is NOT the case with the dry lite, it feels perfectly soft (note, it is not plush, but feels smooth and soft in comparison to others) and dries you off really fast. The loop is also great for hanging to dry in a tree, and its nice that it opens with a snap to hang it from almost anywhere. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
This thing is great. I purchased the XL and was gonna take it backpacking but to me is alittle to large . so will use it car camping or around the house. more...
Right now, go get rid of every towel you have ever used, rip them up, burn them, bury them. Then buy some of these, it is the last and only towel you more...
