Ok yes it's light weight but I found that the texture of the spork in your mouth was unpleasant as well as it had a slight metal taste to it. I have to say the fork part is just useless for anything you actually need a fork for. I ended up leaving it behind for a 'light my fire' plastic spork which has never let me down.

I'll start by saying that I've gotten a ton of use out of the spork over the last 3 years or so. It's aluminum, so it bends if you aren't careful (read: making yer oatmeal too thick). Bright side: I've been able to bend it back every time, but I do know that it'll break off at some point. And the hard anodized finish wears off, even if you hand wash it. I'm not in love with it, but I do like it enough that I haven't replaced it yet. When it does finally break (probably soon), I'll be replacing it with a different brand.

I use the spork daily! Its light and durable and washes really easily. Great item, great buy!

After my Lightmyfire spork/fork broke I decided to go titanium and I'm never turning back. Super light, big enough that you won't lose it and pretty much no chance of breaking it (assuming you don't end up in combat during your backpacking trip).

Best six dollars of my life, no doubt.

my sea to summit spork survived my trip and upon washing changed and appears to have a dull gray spotty "film" on it. Looks / feels dirty. How can I restore?

Hand-wash it with Comet and a brass scouring pad.

G'Day Bob -

Barry from Sea to Summit here. It sounds like you may have washed your AlphaLight Spork in a dishwasher. If so, the caustic chemicals in the dishwasher 'soap' will have stripped the anodized finish from the Spork.

Please contact me directly at barry@seatosummit.com and I'll work out a solution with you. If the anodized finish has been stripped from the utensil it should not be used.

And - to everyone else out there, PLEASE DO NOT USE COMET OR WIRE WOOL ON ANODIZED ALUMINUM UTENSILS - this will destroy the anodized finish.

I trust this helps

cheers

I got the spork. It's pretty rad. I don't know what else you could ask for, really. It scoops AND stabs.

I got the Alpha set and I like individual cutlery rather than fumbling with a spork/foon nonsense. The holes in the set tend to collect food goo, but otherwise a solid, durable set of cutlery. The caribiner is nice to keep it all together. Also, I believe S to S also sells a cutlery bag/tent peg bag for the set.

Not quite up to titanium standards but still a darn nice utensil set. I bought the set for my wife and I and the supplied small carabiner keeps everything together. I have used these several times and never had an issue with them.

It's a nice spork - certainly a good choice. I have this and the Snow Peak Titanium Spork, though, and prefer the other. The weight of this is a tiny bit less (less than half an ounce difference), but the Snow Peak is stronger.

I also like the slightly longer tines on the Snow Peak as it is easier to stab meat and other items with (you can also stab food with this spork - the Snow Peak just does a slightly better job at it).

Can you use these in nonstick pans?

Since these utensils are metal, I wouldn't recommend using them with coated/nonstick surface cookware. Stick with plastic(lexan) or wood. There are now lightweight bamboo spoons available. They are both durable & lightweight. Here's more information:

Spork works great for its purpose. It's long enough to easily fork food but also is good for oatmeal.

I've got the spork. It's a spork with a carabiner so you don't lose it.

Liked it so much I got one for the woman. She likes the sporkiness as well.

In the description of the sea to summit alpha light utensils tech specs say's 1 spoon, 1 fork, 1 knife. That means we get all three for $5.90?

Kretzky

No, you just get one. The Spork, the spoon, the short spoon, or the long spoon. I'm not sure why it even mentions a knife, guess maybe it's sold out.

If you purchase the "Alpha Set" for $14.90, you will get all options minus the long spoon. This often sells out first.

Just got this not too long ago and was looking for something small that would fit inside of my BC 700ml Ti pot. Tried it out with some freezer bag cooking in my living room and found that this thing 1) does not nest inside the BC pot with stove and canister 2)is just too damn short to really eat with without getting food all over your fingers. Not worth the weight savings. Will return it and go with the regular size or maybe even upgrade to the long seeing that I would have to store it in the brain of my pack anyway. DON'T BUY THE SHORT unless you want to be frustrated.

I don't think not knowing which size you will need before purchasing is a good reason to give this utensil a 1-star rating. I don't know why anyone would assume it would fit inside a specific pot and give a 1-star rating when it doesn't. It's just a preference, not a merchandise defect/short-coming.

if you want one that fits in a small pot like the bc 700 then you need one that folds or gsi telescoping(4 inches)for example!! Many better choices, if your gambling!!!
